How Low Is Yours - mileage that is
#34
May 98 with 26k. I had a 'test drive' in an RX8 out of curiosity and was offered £7600 with an extra £400 for the low mileage. Big ******* deal. The car has had over £12k spent on it!!! Don't suppose I'll ever sell it now

So, all these folk with little or no miles on their Scooby's.....
Did you buy it to drive it? or as a status symbol to sit on the driveway?
Not a dig.... a serious question cos I cannot understand buying a car like ours and doing 25,000 miles in 4 years??
Even a weekend track toy would accumulate more miles...

I do use it at weekends, and TBH I feel I get more out of it because it feels special when I do use it. Mind you, my OTHER car is a Ford Capri
Some of my work mates point out that I rarely use it. I say, you don't wear you best clothes to go to work do you? You just wear your sloppy joes

Maybe its just me, but if I'm paying a whopping great amount of cash to buy, insure and maintain a car, then I certainly don't want it spending its life gathering cobwebs in a garage. Just MHO.

John - my sentiments exactly, thats why even though its my 2nd car (04), its still used everynight to go for that little blast, its like a drug (though never took them) once you start you just cant stop
My phrase is "I didnt buy it to polish it, i bought it to drive it"

I only put 22,000 miles on my last car in over 5 years - but then I live only 2 miles from where I worked. Don't forget, talizman, not everyone has a 200 mile round trip every day.
(Current Scooby has 1200 miles on it, and that's in the last 2 weeks. )

Personally, I do use it, but even that coupled with leisure driving only comes to about 12k a year.

Reasons for low mileage - in our case at least, is that my son works in London so gets on the train. The car is covered on the driveway, so gets rarely used during the week.
It doesn't matter wether it's the Scoob on a rusty old Nova - that's the way it is!
In my case, I have the choice of car or bus to work, so why put more clutter and pollution on the road when I can use public transport? I usually drive to work just 2 or 3 times a week (It's only 3 miles)
Look at it this way, if I can afford (just!) to run a car that I want and can choose when I want to use it, it feels GOOD when I do! Strange attitude from some of you! We are doing you a favour by reducing the commuting congestion?
Having said all that, we often travel in convoy to shows etc. when we could easily use just one car!

johnd agree with you on this one,
mines over 2 years old and has just crept over the 14,000 mark everytime I use it I have fun and IT ALWAYS gives me a grin. Maybe because I use it so little i'm not getting bored of it so quickly. Im sure if I did 30000 miles a year in any car i'd get bored of it quicker.

You should use it more mate!
I've tried using the other halves car a bit more recently in order to keep my mileage down but i'm finding it too much of a wrench to leave my car and drive something else!
