Glad to hear the **** got some punishment.

Is there any way you could get the little ****** to pay the money for the car storage charges?

Your car insurance may also include legal cover that would allow you to sue the scum without it costing you anything. I doubt he has much but you could take a nice slice of his prison wages/benefits when he gets out.

Actually perhaps you could sue him for more than that, like distress and other out of pocket expenses?

Thanks for the good wishes

I am still off work now and under the hospital.
I have to report back to physio each fortnight for a torture session and check up.

I have tried to get back to the detective who handled my case, but he is off till monday.
I did fill in a police compensation form as well as a criminal injuries claim.
My insurance did provide me with a solicitor, but they do not reply to my e mails
I am not expecting a great sum from the criminal injuries.....3 - 4k

My house keys went missing during the car jacking as well, and there was stuff in the car to identify my address ( i was raising money for the mencap challange at the time).
So i had to have all my house locks replaced as well

One thing that does get on my nerves, is all these no win, no fee solicitors ads
Mrs xxx who fell at work and landed on her bum and was awarded £4k

There is no point me trying to sue the scumbag, as he will say he has nothing.

Another update...
Had a letter from the hospital today, and they have given me an appointment to see the consultant on 23rd september.
I wonder if its in connection with my claim

Do keep us up to date - at the very least, I'd like to hope you can recover your actual costs from the b*stard even if he can't pay compensation. There's no way you should be paying for storage fees, taxi fares, new locks, loss of value on the car etc...

Still, really glad you're on the mend - is your arm hurting any less now than at JAE a couple of weeks ago?

5 years doesn't sound much under the circumstances, but if it's any consolation: I used to work for a CCTV company, and one of my colleagues had to visit a prison to service the security system. He saw some pretty scary things that had been captured on video and was very glad to get out at the end of the day. Prison is a nasty place to be, make no mistake. Here's hoping they have particularly slippery soap.

My wrist hurts if i try any sort of twisting movement.
I dare not lift too much weight with my left hand.
I suppose i have got about 75% of the movement back now.
The scar area is very sensitive to the touch and i often get shooting pains in my hand and wrist for no apparant reason. I think these are down to the nerve damage that occured while they were fitting the metal plate (they had to stretch the nerves and muscles to one side in order to bolt the plate to my radius). I still have a strange sence of touch in my thumb and forefinger. Alison said i spent about 3 hours in theatre.

As for the scumbag, i hope his cellmates think he has got a pretty mouth

Nerve damage can take a couple of years before the strange sensations of touch subside (mower chopped finger to the bone - guess it teaches me right for lifting up a cutting deck running at full throttle with 2 just sharpened blades! - they work!!)

Hope the pschyo side of the event is soon behind you - will definitely help with crim being put away - if he had just driven off, it would be a different matter for sure..

Greg - really pleased to hear you/they've got a result. Pity it's not longer, but that's the justice system for you. In this case, at least it goes to show that it CAN work

I can only imagine it was a horrible experience to endure, but the result could happen to a nicer chap

Take it easy and see you at T5NYW's Malvern Hills Bush Fire!!!

Sorry to hear what happened to you but its good that the guy got locked up for it. Police chopper??? I was held up at gunpoint (on the same road as the main police station) and the police didnt seem at all bothered. Now that the same gang has car jacked others, held up numerous banks and security vans not to mention shooting someone I hope they are taking more notice.

I am very happy that you got a good response from the police....With the way that I was treated I doubt very much whether I would even bother reporting it if (god forbid) happens again, but your story may change my mind.

Still a bit of a lottery these police forces
