Superb film, was quite happy to watch it all the way through again last night despite having seen it several times before. Really involves the viewer.

With possibly one of the best pieces of closing dialogue ever

Decent Stephen King films:

Stand by Me
The Running Man
Shawshank Redemption
Green Mile
Misery
Dolores Claiborne
IT (tv series with Tim Currie as the clown)

Bad Stephen King films:

Pet Cemetary (great book, though)
Dreamcatcher (film is OK if you've read the book, confusing nonsense if you haven't)
Christine
Carrie (made for TV film)
The Stand (TV series)

Actually, not a bad hit rate, really.

Tried watching Kingdom Hospital but thought it was a load of old nonsense.
You can add "The Shining" into the top list there mate.

As a side note(unless something has changed recently ) Mr darabont is suposedly writing the screen play for the next possible indiana jones film .Should be interesting at the very least .
Green Mile was not a short story - it was a Series-Novel. Big difference. VERY brave way of writing a story.

D'oh, of course, Kubrick's amazing version! Pity he ruined the ending, though, otherwise fine work.

Don't know about the film The Green Mile, but I've read the book, and I thought it was total pants.

I won't watch the film anyway as it has Tom Hanks in it.

Just sat and watched it - definitely a good film, don't know why I never got round to watching it before as I had it!!

Rates up there with 'Cool Hand Luke'

Yep must agree.... I saw it several years ago and it stays with me to this day.

Last night I reluctantly watched Kill Bill Vol.1 .... what a scream, never laughed so much in ages...it WAS a comedy wasn't it ?

Yes, it's supposed to be funny.

LOL - I watched the final part of Kingdom Hospital out of curiousity. All the King trademarks were there albeit in a watered down form.

The best bit was his cameo appearance as 'Jonny B Goode'. Had to chuckle at that!

Read the empire 5 star review:-

http://www.empireonline.co.uk/site/i...l.asp?FID=3233

Pretty much sums it up - it really bombed in the box office - esp in the States - but it went on to become one of *THE* most successful DVD's of all time - I bought my copy for £4 from Woolworths!

I dont know anybody who doesn't class this film as one of the best they have ever watched.

i saw an interview with tim robbins who said he thought that the film bombed in the states because of the title. they couldn't understand what it was all about and it's sucess was down to word of mouth.

imho the only film i have ever watched that is much better than the book.
