not surprised he crashed, there's no way you can keep both eyes on the road with a sken like that, unless he is part chamelion of course.

Sorry all, started this off but as im at work, only just read the thread again wow 4 pages ![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
At the end of the day, he's is a footballer (famous no) but he's still a fooking ar$ehole who had been drinking with his mates and then got in his flash motor and was showing off, unfortunatley it resulted in the death of a father of 4, but thought **** it, and legged it like a total fooking asswipe he is, thinking he like a lot of other clebs are above the law or like to think they are.
Imlach,
It wouldn't matter if the accident was a result of outrages speeding, at the end of the day he killed someone, and in my book he should have stayed there and took his punishment.

he was wrong to flee the accident agreed, but I think he has been given a harsher sentence than usual because of his status!! pretty sure I have seen many chavs do the same thing but get off with a lighter sentence!! this country always likes to peanalise the rich and famous for some reason!

He's an easy media target.....this kind of thing is going on every day in courts across the land, eg :
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/3549006.stm
He killed triple the number of people, yet no outcry on here. I wonder why....

Imlach.
I was disappointed to read the post you made decribing your personal driving habits either with or without having been drinking. In both cases if you had been caught you would have deserved what you got for irresponsible behaviour whether you condone what Hughes did or not.
I cannot think that anyone can excuse Hughes in any way for the accident, the death that he caused and his actions afterwards.

I think this is a classic case of double standards how can you apply different rules to the same situation why should one be treated different to another for commiting the same crime???
I am not excusing Hughes for his crime, just think he ws hard done by in comparison to others. I am sure his flashy life style posh £100,000 Merc coupe etc etc went against him....

I have never posted anything like that!
Re-read it, and it is postulating on possible scenarios! I've never driven from Penrith to Alston in my life, nor committed any of these possible offences!!
I've edited the post now as maybe it wasn't clear!

What he did was wrong and deserves a jail sentance for driving like a plonker and leaving the scene for whatever reason. Ever really wondered what you would do in a similar situation though?
Eg doing 40 in a 30 through a rough ar$e estate when a toddler runs out in front of you? Would you really have the way of it all to handle that in a cool calm collective manner, stop, call police, tend toddler, fend of natives wielding bats and knives, apologise to parents etc... I think there'd be a percentage who'd get the fooook out on the spare of the moment and once you go into shock (which Ive had the pleasure of experiencing

I think 6 = 4 = about the norm for said crime - lots of lives ruined and another opportunity for hard line britain to be judge, jury and executioner once more - toot toot!
