that there isn't a worthwhile performance gain using swapping the k04 in the AUG
I think they were referring to the originasl K04, not the ones used on the 225 engine?

I have actually read the info a little while back which has basically stopped us wasting money on a K04 turbo, manifold etc setup and to wait until we can get a decent bolt on like a GT or IHI turbo.

I doubt even at 300hp, the 1.8t lump will be particularly stressed lugging 580kg around

Can we please remember that not all 1.8 20VT engines are equal and the K03s with it larger blades is not the only component that affects performance.

I have an IbizaFR with K03s and a 1.8T with Variable Valve Timing. This allows my power to peak at 6500 rpm. Which means my turbo doesnt have to be on as high a boost. My peak BHP is 217BHP on the rollers that is with a fairly high air intake temp and 225lb/ft. BHP per tonne is 191BHP. No other mods. The pressure on the turbo is not that, high well within its tolerances, cause of the VVT. All previous Ibizas didnt have VVT the Leons did. Same K03s turbo and engine as is in the Leon Cupra 180BHP, which can easily remap to 230, without probs as the engine is very strong with the extreme modders pulling 300-450 without blowing it up.

These are hot hatches, not race/rally cars. Different category to Scoobs. Mine returns around 32-38mpg per tank depending on type of journeys and how heavy footed.

The K03s definately produces better results compared to the K03, it is not as strong/large a turbo as the K04. K03 Ibizas will safely remap to 200BHP, K03s Ibizas will safely map to around 220 BHP, without FMIC etc.

Eeer, Craig, Ian......when you are next down at Bedford Autodrome why don't you ask our old mate Dr Palmer about the set up he uses in the FPA cars?

Up to 350bhp on std internals with only a turbo and ECU change IIRC.

Thumbs up

Hey Doc,

long time no see.

The palmersport audi engine has some nice bits I'd like. Especially the long primary inlet plenum and throttle body. Wonder if they have any spares ?

The XTR4 has run down at Mr Palmers playground a few times now - and it likes it very much.
