I got ripped for £750 for a laptop and the tw@t dident even send me a brick so i could claim of the insurance
if i were you i would be asking myself why put a brick inside
if it was the post man he just take the parcel ( just another lost letter ) no need for the brick
if it was the sender of the parcel it has to weigh something
its got to be the sender

Its the sendors responsibility to claim from the courier company.
Tell him that you paid in good faith and have received a brick. You dont care whos fault it was, its not your problem nor your responsibility and that you want your money back or the goods you paid for. Then start small claims proceedings again the seller, you can do it online, its easy peasie:

Go get 'em and good luck

This case seems like a nightmare - with almost know possibility to *proove* who did what to whom.
TBH, This is exactly why people (like me) mostly prefer to buy things from bricks and mortar shops, or at least reputable e-tailers. You get a brand you can trust and recourse if it goes wrong - and pay a premium for it too!
Liked the 'return to sender' brick idea

Was it sent Recorded or Special delivery?
If Recorded it will only be covered for about £30
If the parcel was damaged at the sorting office it would have arrived inside a sealed bag with a damage report and claims form
Contact your local sorting office and make them awere of the situation!

the box did have sat nav writen on it
sorry to hear about this, but its a "buyer beware" type thing.
looks like its going to be one word againsy another, ie: the seller can say he sent a device, and for all we know, you might have declared finding a brick after removing the device... (as an example!!)
hope it gets sorted(no pun intended), but i cant see how. Sorry.
