Right, back to square one. I've deleted most voices from my 128mb card and freed up 15mb of space, fine. I've installed the new version. I've read all the post on here and followed all the links. They are all very useful but fail to explain in step by step, idiot style, exactly how to end up putting speed cameras onto my TTG. I am soooooooooooooooooo fed up right now!!

download the gps camera file. unzip it and you will find 3 small icons, 3 csv files, 3 excel files and 3 .ovl files. attach your TT go to the puter using the usb cable. winblows xp detects mine as a usb mass storage device and assigns a drive letter in my case J: yours might be different. go to the folder where you unzipped the gps camera data and copy the 3 icons and the 3 .ovl files into the folder called Great Britain maps. thats it. remember to turn the POIs on when TT is switched back on again.

Only sort of joking Bigsinky. At first glance I nearly had a heart attack, but having laid in a darkened room for a half an hour and then looked again, I can just about get to grips with it. Presumably the file to download is the Pocketgps Safety Cameras Database. (PS I bet I can steer a 70ft narrowboat down a canal better than you though!!)

well folks installed version 4.4 after deleting all the non english voices. i also saw 4 or 5 fragmented files that i also deleted. BAD MOVE. TT endedup in a repetitive boot up loop. reconnected the USB and reinstalled system files from CD and upgraded again to version 4.4 just to be sure. downloaded the all 3 of the pocketgps camera databases and installed them, along with all the BP and Shell garages. Even mamaged to change the little BP icon to company colours of green, yellow and white. the filling stations work a treat. gatso cameras are another matter. there is one about 500 yards up the road from me, 1 of 5 in BELFAST. no show I'm afraid. had to register the POI myself as a fixed gatso camera. Road Angel bleeping away like mad, the poor TT Go not a chirp.
looks like i am going to have to create my own POIs for Northern Ireland cameras or else get the GPS positions and send them to pocketgps. ahh well still a cracking piece of kit. Have you guys notice the amount of overlay files on that pocketgps site ![EEK!](images/smilies/eek.gif)

Its actually adviseable to remove the voices using the software with TomTomGo attached to your pc than just going into the directory and removing the *.vif files.
The POI site is really good.
Remember, if your unit fails to recognise a speed camera [or a new one pops up on your route] you can send the gps position to the guys and they'll add it to the database.

@bajie,
the words "horse" "stable door" and bolted" come to mind.
when i just removed those "fragmented" files using winblows explorer, it seemed to have a bit of a drastic effect on the TT as you have read. Sound advice I think.

BUT
I am almost positive I hear a KER-CHING sound every time a speed camera flashes.
I also think they've set up a neuro-link to the PM's face cos his smile looks kinda strange lately. Like the bug in Men In Black when he pulls his face tighter when the "wife" said his skin was hanging off him. Every time a camera flashes he is forced to smile. Check him out next time he's on the box ...

I've shocked myself. I've managed to update my TTG, download speed cameras, set up sounds etc.
I've been out and tested it with some local cameras and it works. If anybody out there need any advice, I'm your man !!!!!!!!! (only kidding)

Could you use it on a motorcycle? In other words, without sound, does it give visual directions as well as spoken? Also what is it's criteria for selecting a route? Can you specify no motorways for example? Or, can you input your own custom route for it to guide you along?

@ unclebuck
Yes, you could.
You can select route by address, gps position, poi position, zoom into a place on the map ... etc and so on.
Visual display is large, bright and very good. With the upgrade you can adjust brightness further.
Has volume controls so no probs there either.
You can tell it to avoid roadworks, motorways etc or better still, go off the beaten track and it updates the route for you![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
I think the only thing you have to do is find somewhere sensible to mount the unit.
What I don't know [yet] is, if you don't program in a route and want to use the gatso functionality, why it does not warn me!

I can't see any mention of this in the manual. Not needed but could be quite handy.

I have the same issue with mine, and it's because you've asked it only to warn you of Gatsos on your chosen route. If you don't ask it to show a route, it assumes that you don't need the audible Gatso warning. Daft, but true.
As far as I can tell, the only way round it is to deselect the option that restricts the Gatso warnings to those appearing on your specific route. This certainly works, as I've used it in this mode now for 2 days. The only (slight) downside is that it warns of other Gatsos on nearby adjacent roads.... For example within 200 yds or so.
It's a 'feature' not a bug...

- Connect your Go to your PC
- Put the Tom Tom CD in the drive
- Remove Voices is one of the options - I deleted all but one.
- Open My Computer | your Go will show as a new drive letter, open it.
- Open the 'Great Britain Navigator' folder
- Download the GPS camera files from here
- Extract the files to a folder - I used 'My Documents' | 'Tom Tom'
- Drag the 3 .bmp files and the 3 .ov2 to the Great Britain Navigator folder
- That's it.

Jackclark,
Many thanks for getting back to me.
The only Tomtom CD I had with mine was main roads of Europe, is this the one we need to put in the CD drive.
Will the above instructions load an icon and a warning too?
Sorry for the dumb questions but I seem to be computor dyslexic .......
