A couple of 260s have made 285 in fact one has made 291hp......as usual Mitsi have been very conservative with their figures, just upgrade and decat the exhaust and you are on 300!,get that done by mitsi and your warrentys ok,the 260 is mitsis first official uk evo, thats why its quoted as only 260 because of a very very restrictive exhaust system,ie..2 cats,The engine is still the 4G63,which as on the original VIIIs is very tuneable if you want and very very reliable, which was quoted by mitsi as 276hp,which we all now is more like 295!,a FQ300 is more like 315,and the MR340 is just short of 350!!,so the 260 is a lot more powerful than the WRX,in fact more like non PPP STI,i know there is no shove in the back when the turbo comes in,but believe me i think the 260 is on a par performance with the STI,ok might be 0.5 of a second slower to 60 but thats because 1st gear is limited to 5000rpm,so for that money you cant go wrong with a 260,handles like a dream to!!!

seen a reivew on tele saying that the 260 was heaps better than the French version of the wr1 (260 BHP )

think the tourque comes in much earlier making it much more drivable

I am very tempted to chop in my02 bugeye, but i couldn't spend a load more money modding cars i ve lost to much already

Looking at a few evo V111's before I got the Sti, have to say 1 or 2 grand off is not enough to make me want to sit in those seats.....the material looks like it comes out of a corsa....Ok I know seat fabric is not why you buy a car like this, but hay I'm a lady and these things are important. The last thing you want is the seats clashing with your outfit for the evening.

Pleased with my MR FQ 340, run in now and goes like stink.
Was hard to move away from scoobies, the T25 is a fantastic bit of kit as is the JDM 05 spec C (WR version would be my choice) but after 3 in a row and slight concerns over warranty and re-sale values the time for a change was upon me....
The 260 is a fantastic buy, forget the 0-60, unless you live at Santa Pod or have to win every traffic light grand prix, once moving it is a very quick car, very little in it between any evo (or scooby for that matter) .The 5 speed box is actually nicer to use than the 6 speed and the power delivery is very linear so it looses little there. I would probably fit softer dampers but thats about it, the sensible me should have bought one...
FQ340 makes little economic sense in all honesty but, what the hell that was the one I fancied so thats what I go.
Tried an M3 on a wet day, what a joke that was!, seemed gutless after a turbo too, beautifully finished though 4 wheel drive is still the way to go IMHO

We ordered the T25 and the Forester STi about 6 weeks ago and the only delay really was finding a Spec C WR to base the T25 on, all being well the cars dock on the 8th and then a couple of weeks for the conversion and paperwork.

Have you driven one? I suspect not!

Sure the power is there but all at the top end, the torque figures are a lot less also.

Perhaps gutless is too strong a phrase but it did seem to lack that something to me.

Pretty subjective really.

Yep the european Solberg edition is basically the same as the uk WR1 but without Prodrive remap/suspension setup.

just had a test drive in the 260

I really wanted to like this car but,

I think the garage let the car down, kept saying it was 285 bhp and the 340 ( which they did not have in - they only had the 260's )is not much better so I was v excited by the time I got behind the wheel but the car felt no way near as qucik as my02 wrx with quite a few mods

think is is probably 260bhp or my car if closer to 300 bhp than I thought ( el headers, de cat, filter, BR remap, fuel pump )

the car did feel very planted but I only had a poxy 30 minute test drive and I couldn't get used to the brake's etc (much better than mine ) the main thing I noticed is how tought every thing was

I think I would have to get the 340 for me to really warrent swapping mine, and that gets expensive

think my wallets staying in my pocket
