The official 0-60 figure for the bugeye was 5.9. However, we should bare in mind that the 03 model (post-bugeye) has had a power upgrade 225bhp and got back some of the shove that the classic had, together with a bit more "attitude" Subaru did listen to the critics to be fair to them.
Six seconds to 60 is still a very rapid car; too quick for the original boxster and a BMW 330i, for example. Also, bare in mind that the 0-60 figure doesn't really tell you much about the car's real world performance; for that you need the 30-70 figure or in gear acceleration times.
Best.

Had a quick flick at the back of autocar etc....0-100mph 16.9 and 18.6.
I was probably a little harsh earlier. Bugeyes are overall decent enough package, but in terms of performance were talking Integra/Civic Type R, Volvo T5 and Clip Cup territory and not M3 and classic scoob type performance.
Acceleration is just one aspect of what makes a car good though.
I respect all scoobs.

The std grunt of the WRX over the classic is definately a downside-but as i said in my earlier post,it really doesnt take much to up the power to make it a heck of a lot punchier than the classic(used to own a MY98 before my 02)-on the flip side though, the build quality and ride is far superior on the newage if you like that sort of thing(maby im getting old
)-im not slagging the classic in any way though,i just found it to be quite nice being a fair bit more comfortable that my previous scoob.
I think its one of those things that if you havnt driven a lightly modded newage, you wont know what im talking about-but if you do have the chance to have a spin in one,i think you will be pleasantly suprised-my one whoops sti's now![Norty](images/smilies/norty.gif)
easy

So bar from weight, acceleration and looks, what did the classsic have going for it
LOL
I loved my MY99 to bits and DBM best colour. I did say i'd buy an Elephant and copy the Peugot ADvert if i had to buy a Bugeye
Anyway for 21/2 years I have owned my limited edition STi Bugeye![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

the Body strength is far better, Build quality is better, brilliant shopping car and terriffic on long runs. and manages to give me a few grins in the twisties ![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
The downside is the weight
try taking off hard lock out of tight junction
more accelleration from a Stanna Stair Lift. LOL but far better since PPP ![Cool](images/smilies/cool.gif)
My next Scooby WILL MUST to be lighter
even if it means getting a Type C with a 2.5ltr ![Cool](images/smilies/cool.gif)
to his question WRX or Classic would depend if how you use the car
New or Old
fast or Faster
Comfort or handling
how many
miles, how many ![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

Plus with a couple of asthetic tweaks they look great too compared to the std fugly look with a set of morrettes and a baby changing table on the back-errr-i mean spoiler(flame suit on-i think they look better than the classics

No-one buys a car intending to crash it, but if I had to chose between crashing a classic or a new-age, I'd prefer to sit in the new-age![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
