I don’t need to prove anything, the fact that the UN had weapons inspectors in Iraq almost continually since the first war and kept sanctions in place says a whole lot more about the trustworthiness of the previous leadership in Iraq than I could – you can continue to tell yourself Iraq wasn’t a potentially a threat – but the elected leaders of the coalition saw the evidence and decided it was – that’s good enough for me and half the country (like it or not the country was split 50/50)
“BigJoe, If you believe you have the divine right to run the affairs of others and the resources in their land then, quite frankly, the terrorists have every right to blow you up.”
Now that’s just silly, isn’t it?
Diesel
My have my postings vindicated your view? Vindication of anyone’s “view” or opinions can come only with a solution – whatever that is – it is not going to happen any time soon. You need to bear in mind that Aquils postings (palatable and reasoned though they be) may not be the views of other Muslims in other parts of the world, how do you deal with those who do not use such methods to impart their views on others (no offence Aquil, that’s really what we’re all doing). This is where the liberal argument falls over – before it even stands up – it doesn’t have any realistic answers for anyone.

DIESEL WROTE:
"If there is say a terrorist episode in a school in the UK..."
All I can say is May Allaah Forbid that happening here or anywhere else for that matter again! I don't think I would too keen on going on the TV as I am too thick and lack enough eloquence or sharpness to deal with interviewers etc. I have also heard that at times they an cut and paste sections of the broadcast to amplify a certain point...if you get what I mean.
Anyway Diesel I will PM you later.
Aaquil.

The point I was trying to make was the orignal source of the quote is unattributable and therefore worthless.

Have no fear, I am here. (Currently suffering from insomnia and flu. )
Aaquil, it would be beneficial to so many to consider Diesel's proposition, indeed I am sure that your family and work are your first anf foremost important priorities. Looking at how many people have had their eyes opened by you and I am sure there are many lurkers who haven't posted, but have a greater understanding. Going more public could bring this understanding to many more.
May Allah (being non-muslim I hope their is no offence in me using His name) look after you and your family very well.
I am also posting just to make sure no further replies degenerate.
It would be good to remember that posting with an "in my opinion" on certain things and ensuring that a direct mention of a user is used in context and not in a hostile way.
This thread is continuing on well and I continue to thank users for their contributions.
Regards,
Michelle.

Michelle thanks for the kind words and encouragement I have sent a PM to Diesel.
May Allaah cure you of your current ailment, replace any of your hardships with ease and take care and protect you in all your affair. I am not offended in any way on the contrary I am quite touched.
Take care Michelle and I hope you get better very soon.

Thank you Aaquil.
To lurkers and potential posters......this is a very long thread and I do believe that as Aaquil says, you need to read the previous posts before making comment.
It is 4am here and I was only going to get a drink of water, but as you can see the lure of posting on Scoobynet is too strong.
I am going to try and sleep again. LOL
Have a great day.

gsm1........"Shall We Dance"??? LOL
Ok....I've removed an earlier post which had statements which had "apparently been shown on an Islaamic website".
The internet can indeed be a dangerous place, as it's so easy for anyone to read stuff and take their own meanings from it..........but.......isn't that like......erm.......The Koran........The Bible???
At the end of the day: (IN MY OPINION)
Most people want to get on with their lives and bring their families up in a safe world.
There are some nutters in the world and unfortunately some of them are in positions of power and can have a devastating effect on the public. These nutters need to be sorted out and stopped before they cause to much damage. Just who the nutters are is a difficult one to sort out!!!
Most of us do not KNOW the facts.......we only know the facts as they are presented to us. Most of us have to rely on television and newspapers for our information. I'm sure that the Western world believes that their news is more likely to be truthful than news from the Middle East (for example) and vice versa.
.....................................
I have just been watching the news and the fighting in Iraq has been on. Losses on both sides.
"Normal" Iraqi people (men) crying after losing family.
US soldiers killed.
.....................................
The $64,000 question..........How do we break this cycle of violence?
The US is now stuck in a bit of a Catch 22 situation.
Can't leave and let the Iraqi people get on with it.
Getting nowhere really by staying.
My personal thoughts are that terrorists, whatever and whoever they fight for, need sorting out.
We have had terrorism in the UK for decades. Fortunately it has been pretty quiet for a few years, but I have no doubt that someday, we will see a major terrorist attack. I just hope that when that day does come, luck is on our side.
I'm sure that any such attack would stir up racial tension in the UK and I don't want that.
I became a Dad in February and it's amazing how having a child affects your thoughts on the future.
I'd like to see my little lad grow up in a safe world and have children of his own.............. and then they can have children.....and on and on and on.
Terrorist organisations like Al-Qaeda are probably the biggest threat to UK safety at the moment, but I think we can look elsewhere for WORLD threats!
North Korea anyone???
Marty

You did not answer my question about that link you posted Marty.
Big Joe, it is all very clean to regard the situation in a straight" black and white" manner, but you can't really do that successfully when you are dealing with people.

Unfortunately you can't please all the all the time etc (as I'm sure you know) and the simplest solution is often the most practical (or the only workable).
Look at the Israeli wall, it certainly is controversial - but it does work (it keeps suicide bombers out)
What I'm saying is maybe a black and white approach to the whole situation would provide a workable answer, maybe it's time to stop trying to please everyone and just do what's best for the whole area - even if it is seen as unpopular, unfair or even imperialist
No guarantee - but who or what does have any guarantee??
Iraq and Afghanistan are now a clear example of what will happen if a state repeatedly causes trouble for the international community – but also countries like Libya can see the way the wind is blowing and change themselves before intervention becomes necessary, this can only be good thing – for the whole world – but has only come about because now these rouge states know the world isn’t bluffing any more.

Leslie,
Sorry 'bout that....missed it!
I reckon it was probably written by a fundamentalist, or by someone with fundamentalis beliefs, in the hope that it may spur on otherwise peaceful members of "his" religion to join in his crusade!!
The thing is.....that's fine if the only people that read it are of the same religion and are likely to be swayed by his comments.
The problem arises where all sort of people read it and this just inflames the situation.
Self-perpetuating I suppose?
I might come across stuff written by The National Front, but I wouldn't really take it on-board. Many people may find some items that strike a chord, but I think we all basically know that there are correct ways of doing things and that "fundamentalist" views are just that.........in the extreme usually.
