For me, as said before it was an excellent day - I met loads of new people - all scooby nutters! Roll on next year!!
Soulgirl - how long have you owned your scooby (oh sorry, Subaru) for? It was only a matter of days after buying mine that I discovered an internet site, registered and found everyone very friendly and welcoming - you must have got off on the wrong foot somewhere or someone has really p155ed you off about something. I don't understand why you would want to own a scooby and even attend meets if all you want to do is sl4g everyone off! I wonder what response you have had on your site with your comments - might just go and take a look

This quote has been taken directly from Soulgirl's website - now I may be wrong but I think she's been reading too many Mills & Boon books and for someone who has just been calling us "****" because we discuss mods & clean our cars when we go to a meet .......!
If you are going to criticise others, make sure you remember what you've said in the past.
"So, Saturday morning, 1 March 2003 I opened the door to my new Scooby, sat inside and just took in the fresh smell of the recently valeted interior. I excitedly twiddled all the ***** and flicked the switches as I accustomed myself to her g-spots. With the mirrors and seat adjusted I turned the engine on!
Purr, purr, purr. What a sexy rumbling purr. Shifting into first I rolled her down the slight incline of our drive way and out onto the road… staying in second I edged toward the main road. I have never driven anything with torque let alone 280BHP of sheer brute power."

Just a shame some others had to spoil it by putting there views on here!!

It's ok FMS, you're a bloke, we wouldn't expect you to understand
I never actually got around to meeting you - unless you were the guy who kindly helped to remove the snail from my side window when I got there on Sunday??

G-Spots??? Where can I get one and how many BHP are they worth???
First meet I've attended and thoroughly enjoyed it. Well over middle age, by everyone's reckoning but no stuffed Scooby in the back, just a slobbery Newfy.
See you next year.

Quote of the day has to go to the officer from the Hampshire Constabulary who stopped in his bmw estate patrol car and asked Simon at the car park closure point "have you seen a blue Subaru" which had apparently been travelling rather "fast" towards Alton in the morning!!!! After he asked how many people would be in attendance and being told around 150, he replied "well I'm not likely to find him then am I" and promptly drove off!!!
Whoops - I didn't think anyone noticed the blue one - but I guess the silver ones were going too fast for poor old plod to see
Perhaps he should have taken soulgirl with him... its a shame when someone makes comments like that, but some mother's do 'ave em
Great meet, well organised - well done to all responsible. Will definitely be attending next year

Well done to everyone who helped organise the event! it was trult a top day out! nice to meet lots of people!
Yes i actually ran up to someone and asked who they were!
that was the guys from impreza.org. nice to meet you all!
Shame someone slagged your car off Soulgirl but what can i say ... maybe it was revenge for all the times you have slagged other cars off!
again i am in agreement with all the other comments you wont be missed next year!
at a meet like Alton the idea is to walk about and have a nosey at the cars wether they be chavved up like beanieboys or wether they are standard!
some lovely looking cars! shame i idnt manage to get mine down but it was full of new bits and didnt have room for anything else!

So, Jo Peters is 39 and middle aged (Hi Jo - good to see you again). What comes after that - senility?
I am nearly 52, five kids, a grandad twice over, and often have a car full of Scooby Doos of various sizes (much to the embarrassment of my teenagers, one of whom we had with us on Sunday, with her friend). If we had not brought kids with us, then the car would have been full of cuddly dogs, no doubt. What's it all about? Sad - yes!
Fun - yes! **** even? As Joe said, it obviously floats my boat!
Roll on next year!!!!!!!!

Got to chip in!!
cant work out where soul girl is coming from?????
i had probably the lowest of the impreza caste going, but no one said i couldnt go or wasn,t welcome
far from it, some people actually commented on the car and is colour, most
offered advice, and were interested to look under the bonnet and discuss the
differences.
I travelled there and back in convoy, and throughly enjoyed it, theoretically i
could have been left standing 115bhp vs 200+ but the whole aim was to have
a good time and to meet others. not once did i hear anyone saying thats not
a true impreza and you shouldnt be here. The event personified what a true
enthusiasts meet is all about
"people were cliquey" yes you are correct, or prehaps i should rephrase that
from your description of the event i know who you were and where you were
sitting. As you say you are a people watcher,, interesting i do it also, but
unlike you i spent most of the day walking round and talking to people, and
watching as well.
From what i could see, your clique, were just that, to the point that i thought
you were unhappy locals who had had there town invaded.!!
Unfortunatly first impressions last...
I thought is was a great day personally.. and cant wait for the next one

Blimey - only just found this thread!
Thanks for all the compliments - I'm feeling a bit embarrassed! It was a great day for me personally and for Alton as a town. Thanks to everyone for being on your best behaviour (apart from a certain TVR owner who decided to lay rubber on the way out in front of an officer of the law! I disowned you when he asked for yr. regn. no!)
The law were v. happy when I returned the cones, town hall were happy, Pizza Express were VERY happy and my boss was impressed. I think we can safely say we'll be doing this again next year!
