Oops, forgot prices etc, £8.00 each for ferry over to Arran (£45 for the car, although you could leave it at Ardrossan np), B & B is about £25 a night.

After Inverness on the way back down some v nice spots about Aviemore (Loch an Eilein on Rothiemurchus) is a fantastic walk/cycle (about 1 1/2 hours?)

Would then either head over to Ballater region on the A939 (through Glenshee or over to Aberdeen) or head down through Perthshire, St andrews and the like?
