Buzzer, there not pets there working dogs,
So these animals are beyond rehabilitation ? ... having worked closesly with various behaviourists I find that difficult to believe.

I find it slighlty odd that in pursuit of the saving of these poor animals that other poor animals should be tortured and slaughtered ? ...

( please when I say goodies, Im not talking the avereage people who don't agree with fox hunting, just those ones who want to ban every thing)

Unfortunatly rightly or wrongly that is what will happen, and don't think the cute fox will now run freely. Shooting, snaring and poisoning, you name it will take over and continue.

Discussion is supposed to be on the OTHER thread!

I don't agree with hunting with dogs but I hate this ever increasing population of goodie goodies

I would love to know how much it has cost to come to this point - surly there is much more important things in life we need to sort out first

wish the govenment spent as much time talking about how they are going to catch more car theives
Spot on. I've never hunted, probably never will but if we let the Government push this through using the Parliament Act then whats next? Motor Racing? Boxing? Fishing? Horse Eventing?

IMHO, a governent should be there to provide the infrastructure for our lives not nannying us over our everyday activities.

Despite this afternoon's protest "scuffles" I don't hear anyone calling for the banning of batons...

Looks like there are too many townies / chavs voting on here !!!
Or people that have never lived or worked properly in the countryside !!
Or people that have moved from the town into the countryside and think they know how the country side works !!!!

Foxes will not be cleansed from this earth. They breed and can survice practically anywhere. Its the same story. Its the same situation as coyote and the wolf in North America in the early 1900's. The coyote which is similar to a fox. Nearly 3 million of them were killed in one year. Yet they didn't really make an impact on their population. Yet with the wolf with this amount of killing in the wolves they were unable to keep a sustainable population.
The fox is vermin and if there is food available which there always is in some sort of fashion they will survive.

Yes Moses but because it doesn't conform with Human farming and expansion it is forced to go to its nearest food source which, will be a farm

You cant blame the fox for not travelling 2 miles to eat a **** sandwich when there is a 5* restaurant just up the road can you

Indeed, they should be governing *not* ruling the populace.

This really surprised me, I would have expected the balanced view of the world that is scoobynet to be the other way around!

Ban it - 72 - 53.33%
Keep it - 63 - 46.67%

Oh well, you live and learn I guess!

I don't.

I watch so-called animal lovers get all tearful when they see a fox hunt, but they don't shed a tear for the pig that went into their sausages, the cow that went into their shoes or the spider they crush against the wall with smug satisfaction and a glint in their eye.
But your average pig doesn't get chased across miles of countryside, terrified, chased by packs of hounds, until it is so exhausted it can't go any further, then gets ripped apart by the bloodthirsty dogs, finally having it's blood smeared over the faces of the people who where chasing it.

Not really a fair comparison is it.

Put any of you lot in a position where you pitch your wits against a quarry, you overcome that quarry and make the kill you will be buzzing, literally shaking from the adrenalin, I guarantee it.
No, it would make me sick.

The only difference between us is that I can admit it.
That's rather insulting. Personally, I feel bad if I step on a spider. I am in favour of humane hunting, i.e. culling deer if the population is damaging tree etc, using a single rifle shot, but chasing animals using packs of dogs is a barbaric way or torturing an animal to death.

So you'd be in favour of arguments like "I like driving fast past schools when the kids are coming out, so I should be allowed to"? Just because some people thing it is ok to do something, doesn't mean that it is socially acceptable. Heck why don't we make theft legal, a lot of people do it and make good livings at it, so why let the do-gooders try and spoil it by banning it...

So, keep hunting with a rifle for land management reasons, but ban hunting with hounds...

IMO anyway

No, in fact I don't own any animals, (except for a few frogs and newts in the back garden, but they don't really count)...

Locked at the request of the thread starter as they requested "none of the hows and whys." There's another thread on the go for debating.
