THe question wasn't why do you get abuse, but why are you unwilling to display her picture when you are parking in a disabled spot with her in the car.

The picture is on the rear so the authorities can check proper use of the card.

The general public can f**K off as far as I'm concerned.

Young single females can be disbabled and maybe out alone at night, should they have to display their picture on the dashboard?

I cannot believe some of the comments that have been made on this thread. I am disgusted that there are people with such small minds and have the ***** to comment on something they know f*ck all about!

I have Cystic Fibrosis and have a disabled badge. I get dodgy looks all of the time due to the fact I look like I can walk without a limp.... But the fact that by the time I walk to the shop I can barely breath means I am not disabled right?

I would say more but it would just be full of abuse for the small minded people on this foum so I will stop now.

It is meant to but when asked these dodgers usually say "oh i had to bring the car in as i need to pick them up later"

The badge just means the vehicle is being used by or in the aid of the badge holder.

As i say ours is in the car the whole time but i never use it unless the mrs is in the car. However the large numbers scamming the system by carrying around grannies card (who i bet they see once a month if that) need to be stopped.

Not sure how to do it though.

I know edinburgh is looking at making the environamental/litter wardens able to check on this as well as the parking wardens.

If you were in my situation along with a few others on here by the sounds of it then I am sorry but some of the views expressed are just plain out of order.

Why should a 911 be any less controlable than any other car, you don't "have" to drive it on the limit.

Actually this thread has highlighted a couple of things at least, that have been accepted by the masses. So let it continue to serve as an informative thread for those who haven't had to encounter disability either first hand or otherwise.

1. Any car can be driven by a disabled person (disability allowing) on hand-controls. Brand new high performance cars are common.

2. Photographs on a blue badge shouldn't have to be shown to the public by way of displaying it on the dashboard. It's a basic privacy right, not to mention security.

Let there be more and the general public will know all the answers soon.

Steve, it'll never cease to exist while you do actually have the abusers of the system. I can totally understand some points of view when you have people blatantly taking the píss out of the system.

Those that are disabled shouldn't need to flaunt it like some do. They should carry on with the huge amount of dignity it takes on a daily basis just to be out there with the public who haven't really got a clue.

All i am saying, is that a car of that calibre quite obviously requires a greater degree of skill and dexterity to control than a Toyota Yaris for example, unless it really is driven as a trophy rather than a performance car. I know myself what physical demands high performance driving puts on the body, so i was merely questioning whether this was the right choice of vehicle for somebody who has to park in close proximity to his place of work. Not rocket science

Ironically Tel, despite the extra power a 911 turbo is far easier to drive than a Yaris. I could go in to reasons why but it'd bore most people.

In the US parking in a disabled space when not eligable to do so is considered a Class 2 misdemeanor and punishable by community service and/or a fine.

Nope, still not with you, why is a Yaris easier to drive at 30mph or 70mph than a 911.

How many 911 or other performance cars are anything but trophy cars, it's not like you can drive them to max everywhere.

Indeed it is taken seriously over there. There are no issues going anywhere there and not being able to park. Unlike this country where sometimes you actually either have to wait for a space, sometimes for a long time, (Usually in the way) or come home.

That's just to be 'allowed' out to play, no thrills, but just being out!
