re the girlie in the ST170, have you noticed a lot of girlies drive close behind, just the normal manner of driving for some.

P'haps she wasnt being agressive, just the way some women drive...
We have a girl in a Fiat Punto Turbo in Farnborough who continues to dice with death. Two lanes onto a r'bout - left lane specifically for leaving at 1st exit and right lane to carry on round to all other exits (there is only one lane to go round r'bout after 1 st exit). Without fail she will always use the left lane to go straight on and cut up anybody else in the correct lane. Last night she played chicken with a bus and almost lost - but not quite. It's gonna end in tears at some stage (just hope she doesn't take anyone with her).

Unfortunately I've never been in the Scoob to show her that when it comes to traction and acceleration she will come (very) 2nd best if she tries it on with me.

Its not a generlisation to say that most girlies arent so keen/enthusiastic about cars and driving...So they arent so attentive...

I bet said girlie chose her Focus 'cos she liked the colour or " the wheels"

Any girlies on here that flame me will be enthusiasts, so they are the small exception to the rule!
Guess I must be an enthusiast then?? what's wrong with chosing your car to match your handbag? (not biting!!)

on the subject of tailgating boy racers .....

one of the apprentices where i used to work used to drive 4 inches off my bumper on the dual carrigeway near work in his bodykitted clio until one day i let him pass and shot up behind him quick in my scoob and deliberatly nudged his rear bumper at about 70

he didn't ever do it again

go on try it you just know you want to

My pet hate isnt boy racers in corsas but a new breed of vermin - the 16yr old chav on a moped/scooter.

Have seen a few episodes of incredibly bad riding - they just have no road sense or self preservation at that age, just treat the road as a playground.

And when they ride around in groups of chavs - well things get really scary.

I personally dont think 16 year olds should be allowed scooters - they should at least have to get a full bike licence (which is difficult) and not just a 3hr CBT - which is useless.

Default GRRRRR Tailgaters

Evening

Sadly i used to drive a celica GT4 before i had the scoob. Was doing 70 on the M1 minding my own business with a Puma behind me right up my ***. Merc infront slammed on the anchors, i slammed on the anchors and stopped, and then bang from behind as the Puma went into me!!!

Luckily no one hurt, but Puma was destroyed and my Celica was a write off! Now i just dont give them the chance, much easier to move over and let them hit someone else. I know my brakes work, but little cars with drum brakes or discs the size of biscuits no chance

cheers

Ash

precisely!
Wurzel not specifically aimed at you, lets just say someone has done this to me when i drove a normal car, accidentally got close to a car in my blind spot once on an island, very minor - would be too strong to say i cut them up. Anyway accellerated in front of me, slowed down bringing me close to their car and then stood on the brakes, missed him by mm this stunning driver was in .... a classic scoob. We have all done stupid stuff and i am no exception, i have never done this though and just think its one of the more stupid things you can do!

A friend recently went out for a day with an Advanced Driving tutor. they covered all aspects of road driving including tailgaiting.
His advice was very clear. You are much much safer behind them than in-front of them, so either pull over to let them pass, take a turn & then re-join the road again, or go right round a roundabout fully to end up behind them.

DO NOT flash your brakelights because of the concertina effect (esp on a motorway) & absolutely do not slam your brakes on.

OK so the guy goes into the back of you & therefore its technically his fault.
Your car is trashed, probably off the road for several weeks & you will be driving around in a fiesta hire car. Plus your car once repaired will not be the same again...they never are. Oh & you are out of pocket from your excess on your policy until its all sorted, & there will be weeks & weeks of insurance hassle.

But you showed him, didn't you !

As the guy from the IAM said, its all about pride. Swallow it, & let them pass.

Having said all that, my uncle has a funny way of dealing with tailgaiters.
At every given opportunity, he will let people out of junctions, not just 1 person but lines & lines of cars !
Driving along he will slow & let every bugger out of side turnings too !
At roundabouts if the tailgaiter is too close to pull round him he will let dozens of cars filter round - even if most of them are not on the roundabout to begin with.

Winds them up a treat as they end their journey about 30 cars back from where they would have been !

A safe method I sometimes use is to put another car between me & the tailgaiter, ie pull out in front of an approaching car & accelerate quickly to make it a safe manouver - Do that on roundabuts too. They wont have the time to do the same putting them a car or more behind you.

Ro.

That is what it is like here, there are no L plates here if you want to use a vehicle with an engine no matter what it it you have to take your test.

There are also no L plated cars you are not allowed to drive a car with your mates on a prov licence.

There are loads of these stupid new scooter things around but at least the riders have had to take a test in order to ride them.
