recent survey had about 40% of 13-15 yr olds had tried weed, and around 15-20% had tried class A's. From my experience, at least half the people I know who've tried class A's continue taking them.

Recent survey where? I said national - if you're looking in Stoke Newington or Hackney then I'll agree that average will certainly go up.

Latest 5-yearly study by ESPAD (European School survey on Alcohol and Drugs) will be released in about Oct/Nov this year to show rates across countries.

I too have done weed, e, coke, lsd, speed, various anobolic steroids, ghb and other stuff but never comitted a crime, kicked a dog or wore a baseball cap backwards.

Face it: some people are scum whether they do drugs, drink or whatever.

Just do what Holland did - legalise everything - therefore no illegal drug related crime. Legal prostitution (in a regulated area), Legal Drug taking (in a regulated area).


But you are not allowed to sell drugs from your home, get caught in possession of said drugs while travelling or driving.

You need a cafe licence to transport drugs.


Their crime rate is far lower then ours - because everything is legal.

You can't blame all crime on drugs. The majority of people who consume drugs, whether its weed or cocaine, don't commit crimes. They do it to enjoy themselves. Until you have actually taken them you can't judge on the frame of mind they are 'supposed' to put you in.

Weed just makes you high, you laugh then cop the munchies. Ecstasy was used back in the day for marriage conselling and is known as the love drug, I have been around a lot of people who have taken it and are usually too manked to even get up for a ****. Coke is supposed to straighten you out, Speed raises your heart rate; for both of these think spud from trainspotting in his interview (can you imagine him kicking a puppy?)!! Anyone care to add to this list as I am slightly ignorant to all this.

As for the little bastids, most of them do it through sheer nastiness. Think about Jamie Bulger's killers. They weren't high, were they.

Unfortunately, the minority of drug users that are hopeless smack/crackheads cause a majority of petty crime along with juveniles, just ask a policeman.

BTW I really enjoyed my drugs back in the day

if you're a 13yr old, trying weed, coke, speed, whatever, on a regular basis, I think that it impacts the way these kids grow socially. Of course most of these kids will be fine and not kick in puppies, but when you have a lot of them doing this then a percentage are going to be badly effected long term by this.

ps - I've done it all and I enjoyed myself, a lot. but I'm not too stupid to realise that if I was doing all this at a younger age, when I'm less developed mentally, socially, then it could have f**ked me up big time, if I wasn't strong enough mentally to cope.

most people can't be bothered to commit any crime when they are on drugs.

they'd like to - it's just too much hassle, though. same reason that they watch QVC for hours on end - too much effort to change channels.

You have to remember that most of the kids that do that sort of things are neds and their whole family are anti-social. The parents don't give a ****. So they think it's ok to do it. They are more likely to do it when they are pissed rather than high. Neds normally live in an area where drugs are in circulation and they may dabble in them. It's not the drugs that do it to them - it's their mentality/frame of mind.

What about when I have been high in the past. I know when i am straight that it is wrong to kick puppies, and just because I am high doesn't mean I am going to ignore this and go out and do it. Fair enough I am absolutely ridiculous for forgetting the smallest things a week after a funny ***, but I certainly don't forget how to act like an upstanding citezin!!

Bad people will be bad people whether they are smoking, drinking, shooting up, dropping pills or if they are straight.

Now good people on the other hand are mostly good except when they have been drinking; "Nah mate he’s fine, just gets a bit aggressive when his had a drink..." ?!? Ring any bells anyone?!?

i thought that it's when their subscription to sky runs out and the tv goes blank that the problems start. if sky tv was free, crime would be reduced by 80%, imo.

Not sure Claire but I believe you can get a wrap (presumably enough for one hit or whatever) for around £10.

More indicative of the low price is the fact that alot of other stuff is now being cut with smack... ie. Speed bombs and even hash
