Just a shot in the dark boys, but I can't really see the engine upgrade coming as the Impreza still has to have a 2.0 engine to go Group N rallying and going to a 2.5 Litre engine is not in the rules

im going to let some other punter absorb all the painful depreciation on an 05 and then get one in a year or two at 10k> less!!!

should just about be bedded in nicely by then ready for some mods

(if the 'boss' lets me )

Craig,

what I heard is that Subaru are going to introduce a newer, slightly smaller car (prob 2-door) to base the rally car on and the new model (by which I mean completely new model, circa 06/07, not the expected final facelift model) Impreza will get 2.5 and maybe more.

i have seen the spec sheet for sti 05 uprated arb front and rear, alloy drop links front and rear, altered geometry, castor, dccd and yaw sensor just off the top of my head-it is 8 pages long!
if you think how much to buy the above and fit it £1,000 is cheap!
i feel sorry for wr1 owners-they have an 03 stippp with dccd but none of the extra 04 goodies and i bet the 04/05 ppp is close to the wr1 map.if i was a wr1 owner i could see the "exclusivity" of having a wr1 but now it is being replaced by a better base sti!!

I'm really glad that I've still got an MY99 classic (my 2nd Scoob). Even though I've got another 12 months in it, I'm looking forward to the change. With all the changes/improvements etc.

With all the changes since the classic, it's been (and still is) a minefield.
Looking forward to looking further into the possibilities.

But I would pay for the new one - not too sure if I'dve paid to go from an 03 to 04 though.....

Interesting comments on the new 05

Me for one hope it drives like a sports car as all the UK cars before it drive so bad it hurts.

Every time I buy a new car I test drive the latest WRX and every time it's so bad I walk away, the sales guy must be really pissed off by now.

They all handle bad( understeer like hell) and brake fade like a dog.

I think 04 owners are just pissed off that a diff control has been added and new LSD in the front has been added, also i would be pissed off if i have a WR1, I have no idea what you guys have driven before but the 02/03/04 cars are not the cars you want them to be, yes there better than a ford focus but thats not saying much in fact may be a focus corners better !!!!

As for price you can get a 05 model for 23k from motor point and the good news is they have 3 years warranty.

My friend drives a jap spec p1 and this older guy pulled up and asked what he had done to it and what he should do, I told him to get new suspension asap but all he wanted was big exhaust and 18" wheels lol. on an (03 wrx) so if thats what you guys want than it would be £1k loss but if you actually drive (and i mean drive not think you can drive) fast then its gotta be good news.

ANy way I will test drive a new 05 and see if it can go round a round about above 20 mph and brake more than 3 uses worth,

Imo £1000 is a bargin if the cars now drives like it should do.

ANd all thats left is to TSL the mother for £2k

Sorry about the long chat but the 05 may just be the best yet ( on paper)

Question Just made the decision

Been driving a 53 WRX for a year and have now decided to buy a new spec STI. Trying to persuade my local dealer to take me to the test day they are attending next month. Big difference between what dealer says spec will be and the car Autocar tested the other week. I'd like to know what actual UK spec will be. Also what the grey STI will look like?
