All people have confirmed now, and i'm just waiting for 4 payments to clear/arrive. I'm planning on ordering the material tomorrow, so you will all hopefully get your kits towards the end of next week.

Thanks to everyone for making quick payments!

Indeed. Many thanks to Austen for organising.

My only criticism would be that it's been far too smooth so far - I do like a bit of drama in the group buys I participate in.

Oh well, maybe I'll end up with some yellow flaps, that'd make it a bit more interesting.

cheers lads, i'm sitting here, on the beach with my laptop drinking away all that money you sent me

It has been fairly easy (apart from the initial ***** up with the wrong material and having to restart the GB) and i've enjoyed it as it stops me from having to do any proper work!!

What thickness of aluminium are you using Austen ? Made some up in 3mm from the Autocad file and they are a bit thick. 2mm seems about right ?

Just to let you all know, I have cut the flaps out using a sharp stanley knife (used a new blade for each flap). I used a steel rule as the the guide, and backed it up with a wide piece of thick MDF so i could kneel on it to stop the rule moving, it then took about 3 passes with the blade to cut through the Kaylan. I cut the flaps out without the radius shown (square corners) then used a small spray can as the template to cut the radius into each corner. They have come out fantastic.

I have also cut out the ali brackets. I put the templates together and then glued the paper templates to the ali with spray on adhesive. This made it really easy to cut out the brackets. I drilled all of the holes before i cut the brackets out.

The only thing i'm not sure off is which side of the flap the brackets should go, wheel side or body side. i.e. should the build up be bracket, flap, car, or flap, bracket, car. Has any one seen a set of bought flaps fitted??

Thumbs up

I don't know you not only supply the Kaylan you then tell us how to make the flaps, you truely are one of a kind Austen......and we all love you!!!

I think the bracket goes on the outside on top of the flap to sandwich it to the car, to stop the bolts ripping through the Kaylan? ie bracket, flap, car.....as you put it!

I'd have to agree or the bracket would have no practical use.

The order is:

bracket / flap / car

apart from the back one, which goes:

bracket / flap / bracket / car (if that makes sense)?
