"As long as I make that exact same mathematical decision for the rest of my life I WILL win in the long run."
lol.....add some chaos theory to your basic arithmetic and see what happens!

52 cards, 10 players, 2 to each player and a board of 7. There are fixed mathematical perametres (sp?) on which to base the maths and chaos can play no part in the long term results.
Same with a roulette table unless you consider that a fart from the other side of the room might influence the ball. Of course, the next spin that exact same fart from the exact same angle, etc may be nullified by that butterly in singapore and the maths will even out in the end

Tiggs & SB, just a little off-track, but were you guys around when Blackjack could be beaten by card counting and system betting? Those were the good old days when I harboured the thought of retiring early and turn professional card player, but they chaged the rules.
So now poker is the only casino game where skilled players actually have a positive odds against less skilled players and thanks to the internet, you don't need to quit your day job

I'm 26 should I remember those days? I'm told that nowadays playing blackjack mathematically perfectly you can reduce the casino's edge to just 1%.
I was told today by one of the part time lasses at my work that she was watching GMTV/Trisha/Loose Women or something like that were a guest (female) claimed to be making a massive £135k on average over the last 5 years playing online poker fulltime. Anyone know any more about this? That is a silly amount of money to be making and I find myself wondering what in hell level she is playing at, etc

As a word of warning don't regard 'play for fun' as anything like 'play for money' for the reason stated above. Its great to learn the game, what beats what, etc and pot-odds if you want to take it further but is not a simulator.
Best to stick in that bonus £50 you saved by staying in one night and play a micro limit game

Playing for fun money is totally different, because nobody really cares if they lose.

No doubt you care if you lose Warwick because you want to learn the game properly but if other people don't car then it takes much/all of the skill out the game meaning the best two cards dealt win as you can't get people to fold. For example, say you flop top two pair and bet the pot to push out the flush draw they will often call it because they want to hit and win. If real money was at stake 'most' players will fold as the asking price to see the next card it too high.
