What about these?
So, if I get 17's, will I be able to just put them on or will I need additional work doing? Im not on about alignment or balancing though

Damn these are fine! I found these today and I know they are the ones for me... a little bit bling but understated enough I think ... comments? (not that I care LOL)

SG, stick with 17s if only because so many people with 18s have fitting problems (rubbing), also upset the handling for various reasons and then buckle the rims when you hit a pothole, wrecking the tyre at the same time.
Most things have been covered in this thread but don't be deluded into thinking that bigger tyres means more grip. It doesn't. It might feel like it does with less roll and better steering feedback (plus a hefty dose of placebo effect) but ultimate grip remains constant, all other things being equal.
If you really want to improve your car, fit some good tyres. Lots of opinions here, but I think everyone agrees that Goodyear Eagle F1s are up there with the very best. 215/40x17 on a 17x7in wheel with ET50 to 52 off-set for optimum handling and trouble-free fitting.
Richard.
