Diesel,
Sorry to hear about your loss, this has just got me very worried as i have just bought a Scooby and have to leave my car at Bham airport most weeks. I am due to have a tracker fitted on Thursday, but it does not look as though that will be much of a deterrent.
I am going to phone NCP and ask them what they are doing about this, it is not acceptable given the amount they charge !
We need to get some sort of action group going !

Just spoke to the manager at the NCP who promises me a refund of my £60 fee but nothing else as they were not 'negligent'.
I explained a few basic 'reasonable customer expectations' to him politely, and let him know that the theft was actually noted by their staff member at 23:45 but not reported as stolen until I (ME) discovered the theft myself some 17 hours later. I Informed him that my solicitor would be in touch.
I also told him that I consider the fact that they have ZERO checkout security (err they WATCHED it being taken, live, even speaking to the driver of the other car taken...) also particularly negligent esp considering the money they charge for this 'service'.
He was taken aback when I listed some of the other cars taken recently (as advised here); lets hope he does something about it for others' sake.
D
UBIK - do you have any further details of your mate's car etc? I think that if we all aproach NCP with a proper knowledge of actual losses, then it might help - even if I only get my £350 excess back off them...

My car was broken into there last year.
They tried to steal it, but couldn't get past the disklock, so I guess they must have been worse thieves than yours. It was one of four scoobies targetted at the time, and I would bet my life savings (if I had any) that it's an inside job.
I was led to believe that I could claim for the damage, and was given a copy of the claim procedure with my refund, but as I was part-ex'ing the car soon after and they weren't bothered about fixing the damage, I never got around to it.
I left the girlfriend's car there this year ;-)
I'm truly gutted for you though.

Seeing lawyer weds 1100. I might be over-reacting (cos it I find it all a bit more depressing than I expected Itoday) but if there is any milage in mitigating my loss (ins wont even cover the cd changer) or wake up NCP,then it will be useful.
D (hirer of a diesel Passat - 200 dull miles in it today is prob what underlined the loss of my fab Scoob

These car parks are a joke. The money they charge they could employ security guards to be patrolling 24hrs a day, challenging anyone suspicious. I really think anything on their property should be their responsibilty. That would wake them up. All the blokes that work there do is sit on their ***** reading the paper.

It's sickening to read about this kind of thing.Totally gutted for you and can't begin to imagine what it must feel like to have your pride and joy nicked like that!!
I think you are doing the right thing by taking legal advice as there's no way that NCP should be able to get away with advertising 'secure' parking when obviously secure is far from the truth.![Mad](images/smilies/mad.gif)
It might be worth considering speaking to somebody like Watchdog (Or any other consumer rights TV program) and see what they have to say (Worth mentioning the other instances of car theft that have happened there recently)
I would imagine that it should get a reaction from NCP if they're put in front of the cameras and hopefully, their business suffers as part of that cos they certainly don't deserve to be able to advertise 'secure' parking.******* idiots!!!![Mad](images/smilies/mad.gif)
I agree with other statements though that it's got to be an insider job and somebody somewhere is turning a blind eye to what's going on!!!![Mad](images/smilies/mad.gif)
Good luck and hope you get everything sorted

Car parks should be made to be responsible for the vehicles left in them. Then we might see some action.
My wife works at Leicester Royal and just lately about 7 cars have been broken into each night in their staff car park ........ not on is it really?

Sorry to hear it mate.
Have I misread this, or is it a rather dumb question
- like, you are hardly going to say "yes, of course, I was driving round with no insurance", are you?, even if you were.......
Sorry to hear it mate.
r u insured?

Dave - of course I was insured; protected full NCD too!!!
Saw solicitor today and had positive response on trying to recoup uninsured losses based on the operators clear negligence.
Lots of work to do now - including establishing what my ins co will pay for and what I will try to recoup elsewhere. I will obviously discuss the 'are my SS driving lamps' covered issues with my ins Co, but does anyone have any knowledge of if they cover DECLARED options, like the 17" wheels & SS exhaust? There's £2k alone!
Probably best I keep many things schtum until I have a result unfortunately, but I will update on things that will not prejudice any actions.
I'll be in touch privately with the other guys that have had similar unacceptable losses and hope to build up a clear catalogue of ambiguity and recklessness by the operator. [The government I will tackle later
and yes this really IS like a minor death in the family
)
D [back home and at least happy the Passat Turbo Diesel did a whopping 41mpg @ 90; small consolation for its lethargic dangerous overtaking prowess

Sorry to hear about this Diesel.. ![Frown](images/smilies/frown.gif)
Depends on the insurance company about the mods you've declared. Some companies will replace the exact mods you've done.. alloys, exhaust etc.. Whilst others will only replace your mods with standard parts! So standard alloys, exhaust etc..

God this sort of **** makes me so f*"king mad. Who the hell runs these bloody car parks. Same people who are running the country at a very slight guess, and doing as good a job of it by the looks of things. This sort of thing is going to keep on happening to decent people until someone sits up and starts to take notice. I think places like this should be named and shamed and furthermore every decent citizen should boycott from wasting their hard earned cash on leaving their car in what is no more than a glorified showroom for car theives. I for one shall never park there and will never recommend it. Sorry to hear about yet another bad luck story. Let's hope what goes around comes around.

Claim finally settled today... Frizell were pretty good overall and gave me an OK price - I think I presented the case well mind with tons of receipts, facts etc.
So it's bye bye Ford hire Ka and something with well over 400bhp arrives Saturday![EEK!](images/smilies/eek.gif)
Now I'm going for NCP...

There was a 'thing' on telly recently covering a car park in Derby that had previously been notorious for thefts. They put in such a secure system it's now ranked as one of the World's most secure places.
I would be happy to pay for that kind of security, you'd think that NCP would realise that there is extra money to be made. Meanwhile, these car parks are probably run by very low paid people who are easily tempted to double their money (just a guess) by assisting the crooks?

you shouldnt have to pay extra for secure parking, when in effect you paying for secure parking in the 1st place!!!
i mean come on, he could have left his car parked out on a local road for eveybody to see and saved himself a small fortune, but he picked a "secure" parking place
