WR1 owners are not getting on their high horses ... it's just when you get w@nkers who have no idea about cars slating something that they've never driven or probably never even sat in it gets quite annoying. Especially when it happens pretty much every day on this forum from the same group of people.
Anypone who actually knows anything about cars will be able to see that for the money the WR1 is a hell of a package

It's a forum for discussion ... and threads like this are not discussion. They are people slating something they don't own and have no proper experience with just to try and make the people who went out and bought one look stupid and mis-informed.
The WR1 is a special edition and certainly lives up to that. It is not a production run car ... As long as w@nkers keep slating it with no real knowledge of it there will be people like me standing up for it

Before everyone gets too upset, there are some well known facts going on here.
Subaru will always strive to improve their cars almost every year.
This will always mean that someone will be driving a slightly outdated car.
I dont see this as a problem.
Its just the way things are with a cars development.

dude, it was a tongue in cheek comment, not a pop at WR1 owners at all, and nowhere near slating them.
meant as humour, obviously not recieved as such.
i like the WR1 and what they've done with it, it seems EVO are slating the car. not me.

And just think how pi$$ed off MY05 owners will be when the new shape one comes out in 2006 ! It's a never ending cycle, and WR1 owners shouldn't really be worried as I suspect none of them are anyway !

LOL at you Lot the Type R is still the best, and im a WR1 owner
Going on a 250mile blast in the WR1 tommorrow down to Longleat, THe Type R would not have liked the high motorway speed
What was the thread topic again ???
anyway im waiting for the 2.5 engine UK model 2 Door Coupe Limited edition
Until this happens My WR1 is the 1 for me, its speacial and its Elite
LOL !!!!

re: the last comments on page two. I am ******* sick to the back teeth of people posting about how the car is this and how it can't do that and how the stats are wrong blah blah blah blah. That's why humour sometimes doesn't get received as such.

Stick to the 2 door scoobs but on a sensible note,as its already been said people buy the car that feels right for them.Who cares what some poxy magazine thinks? or anyone else for that matter. If your happy with your choice of car then **** everyone else
I'll still have my classic type R over a new age tho
Evo mag is produced by self opinionated tw@ts anyway i wouldnt wipe my a$$ with it personally

My take
I have invested and lost shed loads on Scoobies and esp Special Editions. Terzo, RB5, P1, UK300 & STI Prodrive (was that limited!!!)
I tend to look at them now as PC's. Every 6 months there will be an improved version ie the new 05 STI vs WR1. Given the choice now of a new STI05 and WR1 you would need surgery to choose the WR1, but the guys that had a WR1 had the best ever Scooby for a while. Anyone buying an 05 will also have a short lived period of driving the best Scooby. I'm sure we will see a 2.5 version before the new shape and Scoobynet will enjoy the debate.

The WR1 is a Special Edition not a production run car. the people who bought one bought it for that reason! Only 500 will ever be made, whereas with the STi if IM have orders for 1,000,000 thats how many they will make!
The WR1 will hold it's money better than a standard 05 STi simply because it's a special edition. Just like the P1 and RB5s
It's not meant to be the best scooby ever ... it was made to commemorate something not made to be a statement!

Sorry but i cant help sitting here wondering what the f&uck everybody is w*anking on about, the wr1 is to me a pretty good buy,if you wanted an sti with ppp and 18" alloys you would have to spend 29k,so for the extra 1k you get a limited edition, dccd, prodrive suspension, different trim etc all for 1k sounds bloody good to me!!
To compare a 2005 sti and a wr1 then you would need to spend 4k on ppp and 18" alloys then your still short on power!!(not much i know)
But with 30K in each car it comes down to how much you value the limited run of 500 on the wr1 as to which you would buy,so its hardly a no brainer!!!

The arguement of limited editions could stretch to Type 25 and Spec C who are also in the same league as the WR1 but considerably outperform them on a track situation.Im not knocking the WR1 because its a lovely car (and yes i have actually driven one ) but i think people who brand it as the best scooby ever need to wake up a bit.Id still have one over an evo though

I'm not sure how well the WR1 will hold its money. If dealers are putting them on the IM web site at under 28k with 3000 miles on, then trade in will be less than 25k. Buyers are too fickle now and every itteration devalues the previous version. Look at the EVO's. When the Terzo came out it was still hard to buy a new Scooby in under 6 months, the same was true of the RB5. I lost £750 on both after 6-9 months worth of ownership. My P1 lost £5k in the same period.
The WR1 does not have anything that really will help it hold its value. IMHO the front driving lights detract, the grills are too Max Power, the colour not especially nice and the suspension is so last year darling. It has a black interior, but that IMHO was the last thing it needed. A new STI 05 with discount and PPP, nicer interior and better suspension is better value, plus you can get a nice colour.

Chins you will now incur the wrath of Gangsta Smurf for talking against the holy WR1
Gangsta - you own one I take it? chill out with the sour grapes! Everyone is entitled to an opinion at the end of the day
Just a shame the majority don't share the same opinions
Thats life though!

And believe everything that **** road testers with no talent write in **** magazines along with most of the other muppets on here.
The reason you have lost so much money on cars in the psat God knows how many Years is you sell them 6 months after you buy them!!!!
I sold my M3 after 10 months and lost £500 over and above what "I PAID FOR IT!"
Can I just add that Iain`s fantastic handling Type 25 is based on the same 04 car as a WR1 with adjustable suspension bars etc.
It came where in the track test???
So any WR1 owner or 04 STO owner with DCCDA can get their car to "handle" thae same.
That 05 car looks really nice in silver with gold wheels and black and blue interior doesnt it!!!!!
And it sits too high the wheels are too small and it needs a re-map to make it reliable!!!!
Ok as a UK car it needs a spring kit PPP and a set of wheels to be the same spec as the WR1 and there will be thousands of them making them woth "a lttle" less than a used WR1 in Years to come.
GET REAL!!!!!
I have a WR1 coming in a week or so and bought it as it is a UK car so I can thrash it with the cast iron UK warranty it isnt WR blue and doest have blue interior and gold wheels!!!!!!
Its a **** site better money than the P1 ever was.
05 car has nothing "special" on it.
The only thing that will make a difference to any half decent driver is the wider hubs and as most of you tossers cant drive for toffeee and are happier at the local pollishing meet why do you bother.
WR1 owner to be and very happy with my choice and looking forward to look out Chins...........3 Years worry free motoring with a decent residual.
Adjustable suspension and some minor handling modifications only to what is already the best value for money UK car ever built.
NUFF SAID!!
