I was going to say that any list of British comedians that doesn't have Tommy Cooper or Morecambe and Wise in it isn't worth much, but of course they're all dead
However, to omit Rowan Atkinson or at least one of the members of Monty Python (John Cleese springs to mind -- Python, Fawlty Towers, Fish called Wanda, etc.) is surely heresy?

Agree with most comments above. Atkinson, Carrott, and Edmonson have to be in as writers, too. I thought Carrott wrote a lot of Phil Cool's material?
