SCOOP: MY01 Pictures

That's it!!!
Nice one blubs, how the hell did you find that?
Seriously, I reckon the flared arches are intended to give it a coupe appearance. Not many cars have flared arches going that far into the rear doors.
Definite hints of Skyline, which is probably a good thing. I'm looking forward to seeing a fully spoilered version.
I guesss all will soon be revealed.
Stef.

Hmm it's got elements of the porsche 911, toyota corrola, new VW beetle and a little bit of skyline. I'm sure they've re-used the
front spoiler from the current model. No orange flecks that I can see though
It needs some bonnet ducts and a darker colour I think.

Stef,
He he...believe me, I think I surfed the entire universe for that picture
Agreed though, anything that looks a bit 'Skyliney' will get my vote.
Does anyone know what date the motorshow is? Apparently Subaru will be revealing some details regarding the new model during the show, (according to my dealer).
C'mon hurry up!!!! I've had mine 18 months and I want a new one!!!

Sadly, from the point of view of my Dutch friends, you will see a full set of what like half inched publicity pix of a Red 2001 in Autocar this week.
As far as a Motorshow launch is concerned, the car will now be unveiled in Tokyo next month, much to the distress of IM I should think.

Maybe it's a Japanese thing, but that is one UGLY car. A previous post mentioned that it had elements of a "porsche 911, toyota corrola, new VW beetle and a little bit of skyline", now I see why these elements were on different cars, look what happens when you put them all together on the same car I reckon even it's mother would have trouble loving it. Perhaps it looks better from a different angle. Still it should help keep the value of existing models from slipping too much.

It's hard to say how the car looks, you can't see the 17 inch wheels and the wheel archs, also the front headlamp is big and in this picture it looks even bigger and without any proportion to the car (it looks bigger than the front windshield).
I hope when I see the whole thing I'll fall in love, I kept my MY95 for so long just for the new Scoob, or maybe I should get me a MY00 .

I'm asking all you "Autocar" subscribers to scan the pictures to this site when you get your hands on tomorrows issue for all of us living abroad.
Maybe in the rest of the pictures the car looks cool, with its wheel archs and 17 inch wheels?

You can't really tell enough from the photo so I'll reserve judgement. I shouldn't worry too much anyway as I didn't think the joy of Impreza ownership was anything to do with the looks anyway, or we would all be buying audis etc.

Pardon me Swoll, but i'm not buying a car when i don't like the looks off it!!
I agree that pictures doesn't say anything, because when you look at pictures off the old model you also didn't say oee and aaa.
The color means a lot too!!!

C'mon guys, are you really telling me that you bought your Imprezas for it's looks? It's butt ugly! The standard car is as dull as dishwater, with a bad '70s interior, and the only reason the Turbo looks half decent is because of the various add ons it has, whic, incidentally, if you saw them on another car you would laugh out loud at!
The picture of the new car is difficult to appreciate at the moment, because it's a three quarter view from the front. But, hey, even from that angle, it's better looking than the current yeuck!
I'm buying mine for the performance, and I defy anybody on this board to say they bought it for the looks!
I don't seem to recall anybody saying, "oh, I'm so glad that they finally brought out a performance variant of the Impreza because I can now upgrade from my gorgeous 1600 GL version to the Turbo" ?
Geezer

I bought mine for the looks.
Did you know I would say that? I admit that the performance is the main buying reason but I cannot agree that the car is 'butt ugly'.
So there

Sorry guys, but it's starting to grow on me. I think I'm actually starting to like the look of it. From this angle, it does look a bit meaner, and I like the look of the flaired wheel arches. I'll reserve final judgment until I see the thing in full though.

Marco555,
I agree with you mate, I think people should wait to see the car in the flesh in a much better colour before they pass judgement. I must say though that from the photo's it looks like something Hyundai would make.
I'm much more interested in how it drives compared to the current model than how it looks anyway. When your sitting behind the wheel on your favourite road, looks don't mean a lot.
At the end of the day these sort of cars are never pretty, because thats not the point. I mean look at the EVO6 Extreme, but I know I wouldn't say no if someone offered me one.

Geezer,
I concede that my appearance is somewhat disturbing to young children and cattle.
However, the general public is spared the view of my entire ugliness due to the fact that I have some hair to cover a percentage of my head.
You, my cue ball headed friend, have less hair than a teak sideboard, so your entire terrifying image is clear for all to witness.
blubs (ugly and proud of it)

I'm also ugly, but the women like me too
The foto off the new Impreza has the frontlook off a Toyota Corolla, and the behindlook off a Hyunday.
I will finaly judge when i see it in real.
