So we're all thick tw@ts then?

That'd be why we can afford 30 grand cars...

Do you know how the Forester STi compares in insurance costs? We're looking at either the UK 2.5 or the STi as a 2nd car.

Chris
The Forester Sti for me and the wife came out about the same as the Type 25 which was £900.

You sometimes need to know the people posting replies. There seems to be a little attitude amongst some WR1 posters that anyone slatting the car cant afford one. I'd hazard a guess that quite a few of the critics can. Maybe a couple of nice 22B owners even

I know that over the years my love of special editions has led me down 100+ threads like this. I would never buy any Scooby now as anything other than another Scooby. Think of them more like the next Intel processor. The WR1 has been hit by a choice of colour that is limited in its appeal, the P1 was stretching the walets of most enthusiasts. The Wr1 is a little Max Power for me, but I can understand that some people like cars that way. A crystal grey ST05 with PPP and PF7's (sell the originals to help fund and get a discount on the base price of the car) is the way to go for me if I can be bothered. But we all know that the 2.5 will be the next big thing and anything with less than 2.5 will have as much pull as Rab C Nesbit after a curry and 10 pints

Jonathan

Terzo, STI 5, RB5 WR, P1 , UK STI, plus a few other scoobies.
Looking in my piggy bank to find 30k to be allowed to post on a WR1 thread!!

A lot of truth in that. It's just a shame that when a new model comes out some people think they have to slate the previous one.

There's always going to be a new or revised model of something, be it a car or a toaster on the way. If you waited then you'd never buy anything.

I wasn't suggesting that anyone who didn't own a 30 grand car couldn't afford one, more that those of us that do realised that there would be a revised model of the STi out in a few months and still bought the WR1 as we liked it.

Roll on the 2.5 in a uk car

The nice thing is we can bitch over colour of the car, spec etc today, when 4 years ago we were denied the ability to even buy an STI with UK main dealer backup. Looking forward to the 2.5 vs 2.0 litre threads in a year or so.

exclusivity? all subarus are exclusive. The only exclusivity you have is amongst subaru owners. If they are your second hand market I suppose they are worth something.

Personally I would go with an 05sti as it comes in a decent colour at least.

The WR1 is nice, but I still believe like the P1 it was a succesful marketing ploy to **** a lot of cars which subaru couldn't sell.

Why else would they produce it in that colour? to commemorate a victory over good taste?

The wr1 is a great car, but it is no greater than all other subarus which were all performance bargains.

To assume that it is special because it was a special edition is nonsense. It might be special now, but will be nothing to write home about when the next special edition comes out.

it is already going to be lagging behind a ppp equipped 05 sti in terms of track times.

Value wise there is no way I would jump on a sinking ship.
Adam you do talk some ****!!!
There is no PPP available for the 05 STI yet so where do you get this lap time bollox from???
WR1 is a focused road car.
Perfect and great value.
The colour makes it all the more reason for me to buy it.
Please read different!!!!!!

it says it all when subaru dealers are unable to sell them despite there only being 500 of them!!

just to ask a question or two...p1doc have you ever driven a WR1?
If so was it fully run in?
Over priced???? STi with all the relevent bits a WR1 has is how much????
One WR1 owner speaking the truth???? because one owner is not happy that makes all the others liers for liking their cars???
I think that some people need to grow up and stop trying to slag off WR1's for any reason they can think of.You dont see WR1 owners on this forum telling everyone else that their car is a over hyped piece of crap do you.

Dont want to argue but I just feel that all this is going on a bit too long and getting very boring...maybe we should look forward to a new ltd edition and then you can all go slag their car off and leave Wr1 owners in piece.

thanks
Ian

Good idea to go onto the WR1 owners club sites they will all tell you to buy one LOL.

IMHO if you are definitely going down the UK route you need to drive one and a comparison STi PPP and then make a decision to see if you feel its worth the extra.

Many reasons while low mileage cars are on the market, ex-demo, owners cant afford the finance, speculative purchase, not what they expected etc etc

i have driven a well run in one and for a ppp it was very smooth compared to the 03 ppp i had but did not feel as fast as my tsl sti as the dealer who drove my car commented himself.it is a good package and i had thought about buying it except for three reasons 1) i do not like the colour 2) the better 05 model was coming out 3) i have a daughter and the all dark seat covers would be a definite disaster for little "accidents".i had put a wink at the top of my post but you must not have seen this in your thorough reading of my post where as cold turkey pointed out i blatantly misquoted arron.
thanks to cold turkey for saying i do a good impression of a thicko i think?!

Totally agree

The WR1 is certainly good value for money IMHO

I did hear a few WR1's had 2 Keepers at 0 miles The 1st reg keeper didn't complete purchase for various reasons. (PPP can only be fitted to a registered Car) IIRC

Can we please end this sh*t.I dont want to keep reading all this bo**cks about a car.Buy one if you want one, dont if you dont.If you bought one and dont like it then sell it.If you have not driven one then keep out of it cos you are talking about something based on your opinion only.(which may count for fe*k all!!)

Opinions count for the individual only,if you trust your opinion then you are a happy chappy, like me ,someone who trusts there own opinion, and does not care what others think.

Buy it ,drive it,enjoy it,and thats it.

Default wr1 what is it

I nearly brought one but cancelled it, it was no better than my sti8 ppp wr blue and did not look as good, so i cancelled and i am glad i did, i have heard from certain places you all go for tuning that it is a forgien car that did not sell so they shipped them over here added a few things and got rid of them. You all would of been better of buying 22b or jdm, my self i brought a mr 340 now i will wait for the NICE replys. I will say one thing the 340 is an awsome machine you have to drive it for a while to now it. It has its limits like any car and you have to feel them like any car, boring you no nothing. GIVE IT YOUR BEST I DONT CARE I MADE THE BETTER CHOICE
