regarding the issue of the moon. The ideal way to do it is sighting the moon in your country. However if it has been sighted elsewhere, some quote if it has been sighted in another muslim country you can go by that hence the reason why many people go by countries such as Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt etc
Btw wots with figs and milk. Ive only had figs, dont like fresh figs
