Are Scooby's practical?

I've got a UK turbo wagon,
You can get a filthy dog in the back (Labrador that is)
You can get three kayaks on the roof
you can take 3+metre lengths of timber inside
You can transport 4/5 people in comfort or 6/7 people round LeMans in servere discomfort
You can drive it in any conditions, in fact when the weather gets wetter and colder it gets even better
It can put a lot of performance cars to shame but still manages to look nondescript
And it's got a little hook in the boot for your bloody shopping!
What else do you need??? (apart from heated wing mirrors)
Wagons Rool!

Perhaps that's why the higher power diesel Golf's are so popular? 500 miles to a tank, small enough to park in most places, boot big enough for a fridge freezer with the rear seats down, cheapish to service.
Shame they aren't very good to drive (at least the MKIII+IV's I've driven)

Tiny boot - you need to put the seats down to fit golf clubs in (I don't even have to do that in an AX and the scoobs takes 3 sets easy)
Seen a few golf's recently where the parcel shelf has had to be taken out so a pushchair will go in - was considering one for the other half unless discovered the bootspace was the size of a matchbox.

I got some large "H" shaped bits of scafolding in the back of my Saloon with the seats folded forward. Bloody amazed I was!
You can at leat get 2.5m bits of wood in there too without the window open.
Downside - straw gets stuck in the intercooler scoop and you have to stop to get it out.

Shame if they've ruined the packaging on the MKV although having been in the new A3 I did notice it had a rather small looking boot. Is it anything to do with the new suspension setup I wonder?

What reasons do they give when they say your scooby is not practical?
PMSL, I wouldn't even listen to somebody who talks about practicality and drives a cabriolet in this country. Let's hope it folds itself as you'd probably forget how to do it between uses

Had my sti waggon 2 weeks now only been driving 2 years, have had mondeos (not bad but boring), Mx5 (fun but a truly a hairdressers car, good on track though) and now the scooby, what can i say truly a different gravy and very practical, last sat i bought a chest freezer from currys fitted no probs in the back secured easily with hooks no probs (the look on the assistants face was classic when they saw what the freezer was going home in). Yeterday on my way home through Purley the heavens opened visibililty was down to 5 yards the car ahead aquaplaned into the kerb , i drove round that car as if the scoob was on rails never have i driven a car that feels so planted on the road.
Practical and safe (thats how i sold it to the GF) and totally mental when you want to.
Just my 2 pence worth
Scoobs Rule
