lol nice find danny, just for the lazy, heres what he said in another post

I always wanted an EVO or Subaru, so when the time came it was a close call and in the end the STI won due to Subaru offering a cheaper deal and Mitsu offering nothing (this was for a new 03 and worked out in the region of £5k)

I'm not really biased against either, the Evo handled much better and the STI sounded (soooooooo much)better, but at the end of the day, I wouldn't buy an Evo or an STI again.

It's the image....... Renault 182's (and everyone else in a cheap hatch) thinking they can blitz you........and unfortunately for them.........can't !
lol

I think a evo mr 340 is a good buy, but for another 60bhp they want around £15k - seems a tad expensive.

Depreciation on evos is also huge - hate to think how much a fq400 is worth after 2 years.

For 47K I would but a mark 1 GT3 - think about it!

Yes, it was £44k back in 2000, probably equivalent to £50k now.

it gets me why people feel the need to be aggressive towards other peoples opinions and towards cars. personally if i had the money i wouldnt buy an fq400 but i can see the appeal(to people who actually care about warranties - not me), i would buy a t25 and stick with my modded e8 and have 1 of each, dont see why people cant appreciate both cars

You asked "how much was the rs450 when it was on sale??" and I gave you the answer, why are you rambling on about your mate buying it second hand for less?
Of course it would be..

I'm not saying that the FQ400 is a bargain, merely pointing out that Mitsubishi have sold other cars in the £40k + price bracket before and never found it hard to shift them.

This attitude really pisses me off also.

Why do people feel the constant need to belittle other people's potential pride and joy?? It happens on here and other Forums all the time and really fvcks me off. It's like with Blowdog and his new 550 - rather than congratulate him, some ppl on the GTR forum have gone so far as to tell him that they don't like it and that he should've bought a Skyline! WTF!??

What is ppl's problem??

I think anyone who has the ***** to spend over 30K on a depreciating asset should be left to buy at will, without negative commentary and nonesense remarks on here. I think any manufacturer who has the forsight to release a heavily modded car WITH a 3 yr warranty should be applauded.

If you don't like the 400, then fair enuff, but there's always pros and cons and I think many of you are too keen to find fault with everything. Maybe you're just plain jealous that you'll never afford a car of that value?..

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight..

1. The Motec is locked for precisely this reason so you cant (say goodbye to your crap warranty if you did somehow manage to crack it)

2. It's nowhere near as simple as just remapping it. Ever thought they specced the turbo for 400bhp & that alone....

I can't find many pro's to it

Well, I spose you get 60bhp over an MR340 - well, for an extra £17,000.00 you wouhave to expect something yes? I think it makes about 20lb/ft of torque over it too - a real performance bargin this car huh?

Despite the fact that most who have driven it say the MR340 will be just as quick, because its power it a lot more accessable & less peaky, it looks more & more like a bargin each day... (not)

It's VASTLY overpriced, and VASTLY underperforming simply. The appeal of Evo's & Scoobs is the realistic price tag, partly the looks and the drivability factor. Once you go over £35k price tags you are entering into a new market, where people do have lots of disposable income, and all of a sudden it's not pitched against Impreza's, there are all sort of exotica available.

Yes it (supposedly) does a good 0-60 (that no journailst has matched yet?), yes it might go very quick in a straight line & round corners pretty well, but whn it's the best part of £50,000.00 its not just all about speed, it's a whole ownership prospect. It's comparable to TVR's, Nobles, 911 GT3's, 993 Turbo's, Maybe a 996 Turbo if you were lucky, the new V8 M3, the new M5...

The Evo simply cannot compete, other than on paper performance, it's still a cheap, mass produced car thats based on an £8k saloon in Japan.

As for calling people jealous, hardly - i'm an Evo owner right now & I find it comical that people actually want to buy them. I expect to spend around £50k on my next car, of which the Evo wont even get a seconds consideration, it's not worth it. Simple.

Spot on in my view. And jason4656 yes I have driven an M3 in the wet. Not too bad - take a little bit more caution, learn how to drive it properly, and it's fine. What you're essentially suggesting is that any powerful rear wheel drive car is rubbsih in the wet - what you actually mean, is the driver is rubbish and too aggresive for the conditions. Give me a Porche, M5, V8 m3, etc, etc anyday over a 47K Mitsubishi!!! ... but if that's your bag, go ahead!

no i dont mean the driver is rubbish, i mean the car is not fit for the conditions, even most rear wheel drive car owners will admit to this, considering we have a high % of wet weather in this country, 4wd is a good thing and its not just a little difference, its an amazing difference.

everyone is entitled to an opinion, thats mine

just wanted to add that, i havent driven for miles and miles however my short experiences with an m3 in the wet were very scarey, no noise, no nothing just the side of the car starts to come alongside you as you hit a certain revs quite freaky really
