Jonny, you wouldnt like the results.
I personally would not have fitted the 05/06 until the current problem is resolved, but Alan knows this (hes just too impatient ), surely it is going to mask any potential solution, or perhaps even make matters worse?
I didnt fit the crank breather due to there being no residue in the existing pipe, whereas there was from the cams. Wasnt necessary IMO, but it may be different now.

The turbo is the next tuning step, the fault needs to be fixed before the car runs on boost again, regardless of turbo.
Fitting the 20G will not make the problem any easier or difficult to solve, it's not turbo related from what I can establish remotely.

Back to original question. VF35s seem quite hard to find and command a fair penny I assume becuase they are reasonably new being found in STi8s. What other turbos would give better torque than a TD04 without producing loads of lag and not going too far so everything else has to be uprated and then the gearbox lets go?
Plus working on the basis the UK turbo has a clean STI6 TMIC.

Well, JB commented that APS SR30 feels a lot like the VF35, so that's one option, but could well be pricey. Better bet may be the VF34 - won't be much laggier, and might be a bit more common / easy to find . . . .
Alternative is to speak to a few suppliers and see if they have anything suitable.
Edit to add - I just noticed a VF28 in the for sale section. IIRC, they're just a slightly older but similar type of spec to the 34/35. However, I'd check with them in the know before believing my memory re: mods I've never done myself too much!

I've been looking into the VF28s and they seem like a good idea.
So say I went for VF28 turbo, STI5/6 I/C I presume an uprated fuel pump would be a good idea but will the injectors be ok? (MY00 btw). After that what I need to know is what can be done with the TEK2 software? should I go back to where it was originally done (PE) or can I go elsewhere? I take it it depends on whats actually been done to the ECU in the first place?
These few mods will produce a noticeable difference over stock without killing the 'box in 5 seconds? (condition of 'box dependent obviously)
Thanks

Have looked into having my TEK2 from PE custom mapped and you can go to any ecutek mapper. The licence is stored in the ECU, so you just pay the mapper for his time and knowledge.
I was quoted £350+VAT for a custom map
Question on the above too - is the STI 5/6 I/C any different [ apart from the logos etc ] to a MY00 I/C - have seen differing opinions on this in the past.

Not sure of the exact techn differences. Fins seem to be softer on the STi one and it also has a bigger tank at top. I suspect their are differences in the core? I'm sure someone will be qable to clarify for you.

where exactly has it split? from memory the end tanks are quite beefy and should take a re-weld no problem. But if the bar/plate area has come aparts not sure how you wil manage, it will need brazing with a zinc based rod.

So i understand from Andy.
Theres no need to sound cocky Jonny.
Anywhere in particular?
Why do you think it suddenly split after nearly a years worth of running 1.5bar through it?
Was it repairable?
Have you repaired it?
What cost if you have repaired it?
Is the car on its way to Andy now?
