''DO NOT TOUCH THE SNOOPER S6'' The warranty is good because you will need it. Read on.

I fitted one for a mate and it failled, we then drove the 3 miles to Snoopers head office to have it sorted and they just gave us another one and said off you go.

Guess what, this failled too, it would only ever pick up 1 satelite out of a possible 4.The unit didnt even pick up the camera at the end of his road.

When then went back to Snooper and told them and they said ' ohh it will be the GPS aerial as they always fail, guess what it was changed and still didnt work, back we went to Snooper who told us to basically p#ss off and stop hassling them and take it back to where we bought it for a refund.

This was then done and as you can guess i wouldnt touch anything they sold with a big stick.

Adam has the right idea, buy the US versions as they are way in advance of the UK equipment and a better price.

It was my car in fact that this was fitted to.I think he got his wires crossed cos I fitted this myself (For a change!!) lol...
But I have to agree that the S6-Neos that I had were absolute sh1te and as stated I would NEVER buy anything from Snooper again.Their after sales service stinks as they fobbed me off when I paid them a visit to their headquarters which is within 5 miles of where we live.On the second faulty unit they told me to deal with the place where I originally bought it from and to return it there which I duly did and got my money back as they didn't deserve my hard earned!!!
The thing was big and bulky (Reminded me of those russian video cameras that Delboy was tryin to sell in an episode of Only Fools and Horses lol) and didn't look that smart but Costco at the time were selling them cheap hence the reason why I bought it.I could drive on a 6 mile journey to work and it wouldn't even find any satellites so it was useless until it did. Some days it would find them straight away.It was soooo inconsistent and there was no way that I could rely on it to detect cameras et al...
Quite a few people have em on here and don't have any problems but my advice would be to buy a different brand

Good luck

Nick

Default Origin

Hi,

I did alot of homework on this , and looked at all snoopers S3, S4 S6R, Road Angel, RAngel 2 etc, and the one that provided the best coverage of everything and was discreet and easy to remove from the car (nice and small and fits in your pocket) when you leave it is the Origin B2. If you contact Jason (Jaycee on here), he can get you a better price than the £ 400.

Origin B2 for £400.00
Lidatek LE30 for £380.00

I am keen to go for the Snooper S4. It's just about the right price and seem to do the job.

Any other help and advice?
Thanks

S4 neo works fine for me for laser and GPS and are available substantially less than £329.

Try Networkx for a pre owned radar / laser detectors.

I've been using an Origin B2 for about a year and I find it great. Hardly any cameras not on the database unless very new. I have the laser detector connected and only rarely get false alarms.

There is absolutely no point whatsoever in buying a detector that has an in-built laser and radar detector. I have a Snooper S6-R Neo in my car, and, notwithstanding the actual laser detector being useless, once the unit detects a laser you're as good as nicked anyway as it takes less than a second to get a reading which is not enough time to slow down. Hardly any speed detection devices use radar these days, consequently I have the radar part of mine permanently switched off due to the false alarms (auto doors, etc.) The GPS is the best part of the S6-R as it also tells you the *locations* of the mobile scamera vans (though not if they're actually present at the time, just the location). The onboard modem is also quite handy as you just need a phone socket nearby to update it, and don't have to faff about with a PC.
IMO the best compromise is a GPS camera detector (as mentioned here either Road Angel of Origin B2) and for extra protection the LRC100 laser jammer (or whatever the current model is).
This combination is pricey though, so if I were you I'd just shop around for a cheap Road Angel / Origin unit for now.

what MJW said

the Snoopers do what they say on the tin,but there are better models out there now.Personally I would get an Origin, but i cant be arsed with all the woring in,so a portable jobbie to swop between cars is probably the way to go

I have got used to the Snooper though

Here's my S6-R installation :

Laser/Radar detector unit levelled and mounted under numberplate (just under bottom left corner)

Close up shot of above :

The GPS antenna mounted on dash with wires tucked into N/S A-pillar (never had a problem with satellite reception with it here) :

And the head unit rubber-suckered to the stereo facia, although I now have it mounted on a bracket in the ashtray :

The best comparisons of all detectors at:
www.RadarDetectors.co.uk

Independent, so there's info on all the different brands, and also details of the different camera types so you can tell what you need.
