Showed my daughter the cats in this thread. Now every other minute it's, "can we have one?"

Wish I hadn't shown her now!

All the time - still sad about it, she was such a lovely, sweet little cat and I didn't realise she strayed so far on her roamings, as she got knocked down by a car, over a mile away. The dog looks for her all the time when she is out in the garden, she misses her as well.

Thats 3 cats in 4 years I have had that have been killed, 2 by trains on a single track line with about 4 trains a day using it so I will be too paranoid to have another.

The British Short Hair doesn't go far. It will go out, but won't go much further than your garden and probably won't go out at all if it's chilly ('cept to the business of course).

Those Norwegian Forest cats are gorgeous. We had a couple of Maine coons a few years ago, and they were fabulous pets.

I got moggies from the rescue home rather than pedigrees as I felt a bit guilty. Did anyone else feel like this when getting their cats?

Mine are pedigree cats but also rescue cats, one in particular had been very badly treated by her last owner.

Here's Gav - He was every bit as cute as the kittens we see here when he was a Kitten himself.

The British Shorthair - The head is broad with well rounded contours when viewed from any angle, with full cheeks, a short broad nose, pleasing to the eye and very amenable to handling.
Nope, doesnt sound like Albert, I mean ajm fits this discription

I didn't think ours did either, she was such a timid cat, but the people who found her said they had seen her quite a few times

Regards the dog, she didn't have any treatment after all, the vet recommended what they call 'Conservative Management' meant not letting her run free, jump up or anything for 6 months. All walking to be done on the lead, but to my mind this wasn't building up enough muscle - so after a couple months of this, we let her run free in the fields, gradually building the time allowed to run free, luckily she never went loopy and overdid things. Then I booked her on a course of hydrotherapy, which worked wonders . The vet was amazed at the progress she had made.

At the moment she is fine, no medication, no sign of lameness/pain and she can do more or less what she wants to, chasing ***** etc and playing with other dogs Only thing I don't let her do, is jump into the car, have to lift her in [she's bloody heavy too at 36kgs]

I do give her supplements though, cod liver oil capsules and high strength Glucosamine & Chondroitin. She is a gorgeous looking dog now, still very naughty, but highly intelligent and very obedient

Why did 'separated at birth' suddenly flit through my mind when I read that?

Have managed to find a pic of mine when they were kittens that I can bear to look at without getting too upset.

Tash the one on the left got killed by a train when 8 months old and her sister Milly was the one run over last month

Also another kitten who got killed by a train @ 6 months old
