Our's cracked his k9 tooth, became infected and had to be removed (£440 lighter! ). Still he loved his anti-biotics (SP?). Big round red pill takes it right out of my hand and eats it!

Lucky you! Our one that just passed away (bless 'im) was an expert with the nose. We'd feed him his dinner (dry biscuit buttons) and scrape some of our leftovers into it occasionally, mixing them in well. After five minutes you'd see the bowl polished clean except for six peas sitting folornly around the edge.

And the winner is...
Tucha! (pronounced TOO-chah).
It's the Russian name for a rain/storm cloud. He's a little grey bundle of trouble - who at present leaves wet patches where they aren't wanted - so we thought it was quite appropriate.
He almost had Jasper, but we thought the name of a red-brown stone wasn't so apt for a grey dog, and he almost had Zippy, as the irregular line of fur on his neck makes him look like a stuffed toy that hasn't been fully zipped up , but in the end we settled for Tucha.
....but thanks to all for the suggestions!!

A rather fitting name then, and the picture does show a rather lovely wee grey beastie.
So how is he doing, apart from the wet patches? Penchant for soap?
If I'm a really good boy I might get to play with Maggie and Tia later this month

My red psycho dog was never either. Just thick/mad/obstreporous and a thief. At present in his bed are 1 lead, 4 shoes(assorted), 1 padded shirt and 9 stone of slobber(him).

These dogs are fantastic.
I love them.
We had one a while ago , but unfortunately he was run over by accident when my young daughter took him for a walk.
Not many dogs can catch a hare - mine did and he ate it . The lot.
He went a bit strange after that .
Always perfectly behaved with the family , but was always looking for a fight.
I remember taking him out for a walk on Epsom Downs - Why did I ever leave?
We had a massive snow storm overnight -must be back in 1978 and snow had drifted over a metre - He totally lost it. He'd drive into a drift - and then jump out above it .Then dive back in . Had a massive grin on his face.
We called him Ali.

No soap yet, but absolutely loves concrete and plaster - and as the house has been re-finished outside recently, there's enough of that lying around. Little bugger even started to gnaw a small patch out of the living room wall! Also views flowerbed bark chippings as a delicacy - can't get enough of them - and soil, so he raids the indoor plantpots. Slightly worrying also is his taste for silicone mastic, but that's less pronounced, and although I thought silicone is poisonous, I'm sort of hoping that once mastic is set it is inert, more or less. Still, I try to keep him away from it.
He's a few days short of 3 mths old, and weighs about 9 kilos now. We'll be taking his tail off soon (I feel a bit sorry, but they do look remarkably weak, and I know they're hell to mend if/when injured) and vaccination timetable is set so he should be allowed his first day out on Christmas Day!

Rob - first time we introduced our weimaraner (different one) to snow, he couldn't understand it. Threw a stick, and he wasn't sure what to do. Eventually he worked out that if he ate enough of it, it would reveal the stick
We want to take this one up to the mountains to try to show him snow this year

He is 6 months old now and approx 28 Kilos. He is going to be a big dog!
Oh, if he is a Dog and you are thinking about getting him "done" this apparently stunts (SP?) their growth? We were going to, but not now we have heard this.
The only thing he does occasionaly do which really annoys me, is eat his own sh!te.....

Brendan,
Lol, he's a right little devil then, lovely. Am told that ickle Jack is now back with Suzy, so that means I've got three buggers to play with! I'm told he's totally laid back though, unlike the girls, so this could be fun
As for snow, yeah, I remember taking Mag out in the snow, she went crazy, but loved it. I recall building a snowman and her wanting to eat it lol
As for training, well, patience, and a hell of a lot of it! No, as you well know by now seems to be a common word I don't think Maggie has ever learnt that if you sleep by the open fireplace embers will fall on you and will burn your fur. Dozy hound!
Keep us posted on the lil chaps progress.
Oh and if anyone hadn't noticed, I'm a sucker for weims

as you probably read in my previous post our rescue dog was exactly the same as yours (except for the snarling). He would try to stare you out, wanted to play all the time very roughly and would'nt stop when told.
You could hit him as hard as you want- did'nt feel it
You could shut him out - went to sleep for 10 mins then started again
You could shout till you were hoarse - did'nt care
etc etc
He only did it with me though (not the wife) obviously thinking I was the competition in the house. He was close to being put down which would have been terrible but he was driving me spare. You could'nt do what the experts say which was ignore him when he started as he weighs 9 stone and is extremely fit.
Eventually after the woman who owned the kennels told me how she dealt with him he started to get better. Rewards for doing things right. Walking away before the mayhem started as I was obviously the trigger for him. Lots of other things too. Suffice to say it worked. He's still mad, scary, stupid, stubborn, slobbery & obnoxious but at least he now does as he's told most of the time.
Still scares the absolute sh*t out the postman though

Have you got a "kennel"? When he is bad stick him in the kennel for 5 to 10 mins. We made "Harveys" kennel a good and bad place to go for him. He gets treats a night in the kennel, because at the moment, thats where he sleeps at night. When he is bad and uncontrollable he gets dragged into the kennel with nothing in it and left for 5 mins, then let out.
As above, when he is good reward him.
I am far from any expert, we seem to be lucky with ours, he is turning out to be pretty good. If only I can stop him from eating his own sh!te!
