Another friend has a WRX and he has shafted 4 engines in it. This Impreza reliability thing is a myth and the number of them I see regulary on the ramps with melted pistons or various engine failures supports this.

Me and my mate have built a 1.9 cvh turbo engine which is in his rs turbo. it has
lightened & balanced bottom end
Lightened Flywheel
Highlift Cams
Forged Pistons
Strengthened con rods
T3 Cossey turbo
Cossey Management
It runs 267bhp i'd say thats more than slightly modified and he will openly admit that i waste him eveytime in my 99 UK Turbo with a full decat.
Am not sayin cosseys are **** cos i would personally have one anyday but the day scooby owners are gonna **** it from an rs turbo is never gonna come!!!!

There was not a need to be rude I'm far from being an Impreza fan but being on an Impreza enthusiasts site I have resisted cheap snypes and insults. Take your Impreza blinkers off and see daylight once in a while it may suprise you.For sure your chassis is far superior and I wouldn't dream of argueing that. But I think your friend may actually be humouring you! Once rolling he should be all over you like flies round a cow pat.
You should try and race some RS Turbo's. There is a lot of tat about but some like my own may well suprise you.

i raced them day in day out in my astra gsi when i was 18 and still p1ssed on them with that.
All these rs turbo owners think there fast coss they've got a low cost turbo car and they've just sold there nova and bought one.
Its still a just a turbo bolted to an oil burner rollin around on a rust bucket (Must of them runnin 10psi too much on a bleed valve meltin pistons).
Sorry mate just gotta be honest there just not in the same league. (And this is from someone who's worked with cvh turbo's for years).
"I think your friend may actually be humouring you! Once rolling he should be all over you like flies round a cow pat." - U say this but why would he, we both built this car as a project what would be the point if we weren't gonna open it up next to my scooby to see how fast it was!!
Were currently workin on a mk2 escort puttin a cossey in it. now that will be a beast. we may even convert for rallying!!!!
Am Not into slaggin off Fords just heard too may rs turbo owners braggin rediculas speeds/powers and they just aint!!!

heple1983 - I apreciate your comment but mine is not your average rat boy car that you seem keen to generalise.
I'm 28 years old and have put a lot of time effort and cash into my car and have achieved results with it. 248bhp with 265lb torque and it has been timed at Bruntingthorpe at 150mph and despite traction issues a fairly respectable 0-60 in 6.2 seconds (with ICE install).
Pissing on RST's with a GSi now you're making me laugh. And I'm fairly fond of the old GSi's.

niethers my mates but he's runnin 267bhp and the only chance he'll have of catchin me is on long airfield.
Theres too many probs with traction with that much power on a 2wd car. My mates runnin an LSD box but still stuggles.Dont get me wrong i like fiesta RS Turbo's otherwise we'd of never chose to build one up from scratch as a project but i know them too well to accept comments that there as good Scoobys.
Sounds like you've got a good one mate

Not quite convinced that you've always resisted the cheap snydes, to be honest, M8.
Anyway, a nicely sorted RS with 260bhp, low drivertrain loss and lightish weight is going to beat a decatted UK scoob (similar flywheel power, much less at the wheels, more weight, probably worse aerodynamics) accelerating in a straight line once it can get traction. A 400bhp Cossie will beat a 300bhp scoob (similar weight etc) in a straight line. A 400bhp scoob will beat a 300bhp cossie in a straight line. This is simple physics, the "my car is better than yours" from either side is irrelevant at that point.
Admittedly, one person's 260bhp is not always the same as another persons - depending on rollers etc. That isn't intended as a snipe at anyone, btw.
Anyway, isn't it time someone beat the all in the twisties?

Thank you for that heple1983. I agree big power in a front wheel drive is far from ideal hence my once rolling coment. I wouldn't compare the chassis of the two as it's a chalk and cheese comparison.
There are plenty of these cars though that are capable of causing you guys some suprises

A neighbour of mine has a 52reg corsa thats hiding a 2L 16v Turbo running 380bhp in it. He's supprised a few cossey's,scooby's and evo's. I wouldn't even bother racin him its got so much torque in the straight line its unreal!!!

We've got a 316bhp FRST also in our stable. Once mapped we are hoping to see close to 400bhp but if I'm honest the prospect of driving it is worrying me slightly. I don't want to let the builder down though as he's done me so many favours in the past.

Nope it's a 2l Zetec bored to 2.1 with some daft crank, rods and pistons sourced from the US. Some insanely potty cylinder head and a set of custom profiled cams with a modded T34 turbo. TBH I'm not sure of the rest of the stuff but 316bhp was what it made at SCA in Norwich before a lorry driver drove into it. The cars been off the road for 2 years whilst the nut and bolt rebuild has been taking place. It's up and running for bedding in but we hope to start the mapping early in the new year (weather permitting and when I say we I mean he does the technical stuff and I just hang on to the steering wheel. pmsl).
