Hmm, not good. From the initial read of the email, he's shafted you over payment, and you have sent him the goods.
As for people asking "why does he want a refund" It's clear to me, he's shafted you, got the goods, and is 'claiming' he's going to post them back to you, which I doubt will happen, plus he wants a refund, in other words, your cash, and as such, he will have shafted you again.
I'd certainly email the chap and/or ebay/paypal, point out you have not been paid. I would also tell the chap that you explained the condidition, and so he's not got a leg to stand on.

also might be worth subtle hints to the fact that a couple of mate live nearby and could come and collect the item if he would like but they'd probably remove his scart lead and some of his features might get smudged!!

IMHO it sounds like a classic double whammy, he wants you to refund the money you never received and he'll keep the Freeview box too !!!

He actually did pay me, he just went to paypal and paid the money to mike@blahblah, instead of mj@blahblah
so I just went to paypal, set up an account as mike@blahblah, claimed the money and paid it over to my regular account![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
