Don't new generation WRX drivers acknowledge Classic shapes anymore

I always either wave or Flash the lights..At every scooby driver,Reguardless of what year or model.....Its great when you get a responce from a fellow scoobier.....My wife owns a classic mini...And the other mini owners that wave is unbelievable.....But i do find myself,That some fellow scoobiers just look at you with a question mark above their heads...I dont think a lot of them have a computer and realise our friendly forums..(Well most of the time anyway)...So dont expect the scooby wave/flash......

i have an 03 sti and wave at all impreza's no matter what they are. i get waves back off most people but some do not. i do not think it is a class thing as i would not want to belive there can be snobery between different models of the same car. there are lots of reasons that you might not get a wave back. they might be having a bad day, they may have been daydreaming and not noticed you. i for one wave at all sport drivers knowing that most of the time i will not get a wave back. but i do it anyway because that's what owning an impreza is all about to me. oh they go quick in the twistys too.
keep waving
keep waving

There are a lot of new age drivers who have bought their cars based on their name, looks etc who just want a quicker ordinary car. They know nothing of waving, meets etc and may even find it a bit sad.
I drive an 03 WRX and ALWAYS wave at Imprezas but try to gauge if I am going to get blanked first.
I must admit, I find the numbers of "new age wavers" is about the same as "old age wavers" and there are, believe it or not, still some standard (twin pea shooters included) clasics on the road.
If you get a wave great but the Subaru Impreza is more wide selling than it was 10 years ago and this means that the "community" may not be as focused. Usually people blame this on how "poor" and "fat" the new age cars are but I think looking at the 03 onwards Subaru have done a great job - no offence to bug eye drivers - I mean in terms of on road driveability and the ECU map etc.
It is good news for Subaru though - just need to look at the issues faced by Mitsubishi and see that we are lucky Subaru are doing well.

Well i have had various cars in the past and this whole acknowledgement thing come to me when i had a scooby sport.
No one even wanted to know me lol. I thought a scooby is a scooby but many scooby drivers didnt give a rats *** about it.
Now i have a Sti version 5 n they all wana wave. funny isnt it.
Also you have to understand some people arent always aware of someone waving at them. Let me give you an example from the other day, in fact on Thursday. I was driving through the city centre where i spotted a WRX blob eye. I waved but the guy never looked. The day after i was at a auto parts shop when a guy come in delivering for andrew page. I was certain i had seen the guy before but never said anything. Nevertheless he got chattin about scoobs and was asking whose car was parked outside bla bla bla. Once i told him it was me, he opened up that he had a blob eye. From there i asked what the reason is that new age impreza drivers dont wave. N hes like honestly if i realised id defo wave back, was probably in a world of my own.
I probably believe him but considering the massive noise my car makes, its hard to understand how someone doesnt realise its presence.

These company car owners probably dont care or dont understand the scooby community.
A much much much much much much much much higher proportion of classics will (with the odd exception) be privately owned...

I have an MY99 turbo and I wave like buggery - look like a delusional shammyless windown cleaner on amphetamines sometimes

Even when my own G/F is in the car, if I wave at someone I get called "sad". I ask her which is the saddest, a world full of people deliberately isolating themselves and fearing social communication, or a world of pleasant greetings and mutual respect ? I'd rather belong to a COMMUNITY thanks, and I drive a blobeye ![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)

Flash and wave at all Subaru’s with a Intercooler Scoops.
If you are that committed to performance car ownership, you need all the encouragement and support you can get.
It’s a Club thing, recognition, that you got the joke and wear a big grin.
After all there is so much to detract you from having one of these beauties, i.e. fuel price, insurance, speed restrictions an running costs etc
And we all just keep grinning and waving.
Ajax, paul

I started waving before I knew about SN, only cos people, mainly classic owners were waving at me, and I had prior experiance at waving in a 971 mini I used to own, so soon got back into it. But it is mainly the new blobeye and bugeye owners that don`t wave back, Just blankly staring down the road. But got a wave off a blond lass in a bug who used to ignore me if I saw her about. So keep waving guys because the message will get through eventually.
I own a MY02 bug wrx, the only time I don`t wave is if I haven`t seen you.

Not many waves in the Isle of Man lately...
Especially from one snotty Black coloured new age!!!
He's too important to give a small wave!!
Ive heared he only has one thumb, so maybe he feels it very unsafe to let go of the steering wheel!!! LOL
Classics drivers seem more friendly!!
Only the odd few on the Rock wave!!

I've got an 04 STi and the number of people who look genuinely horrified when I wave surprises me. There are loads of scoobs round here (Kidderminster) but I only get waves from about 4. All the rest either ignore me or look terrified.
I have now perfected the wave into hair adjustment hand movement so I don't look like a complete muppet when I don't get a wave back

I have a bugeye, but I wave to all, even like to make the effort for non-turbo's. There is a hierachy thing with the cars - I seem to get less waves back from classics and/or STI's and hardcore versions, but I keep on wavin' anyway...
