Chump - I'm running 1600x1200 32bit colour with a spec very similar to you with no probs.

It's easily the best looking game I have played, the physics in the game have to be seen to be appreciated, the soundtrack is awesome too.

I've been playin 2 and a half hours solid and totally knackered.

I don't think halo2 is going to get much of a look in for a couple of weeks

Thought I'd install this last night and have 'just 10 minutes to see what its like'. Now trying to function at work after 4 hrs sleep !!
Didn't have any problems with Steam other than the CD key registration. It still allowed me to play the game though.

Once you have auth'ed you can go into "offline" mode (close steam, disconect from www, open steam). Once you are authed, make a copy of your clientregistry.blob - so if it ever loses authicentication again you simply replace it.

For those of you on steam - you know you can backup your downloaded games by right clicking on a game and select backup. Mine's about 5 gig and it ownes your machine while doing backup.

I initially had issuse with the game crashing on map loadup & generally being jerky - resloved by:

SP2 (gulp)
New Official CAT's for my 9600 Pro
New (ish) Nforce2 chipset drivers from Nvidia

Now runs sweet as @ 1024x768 everything on and 2xAA

Got it running 1024x768 with most recommeneded settings at the mo, not played yet.
Though first time I started it with sound set as 5.1 it kinda skipped at the end of each cut scene and hung once, reloaded and set it back to fourpoint surround and it was fine. Weird. This was at 12:30 this morning - by the time I eventually got into Steam FFS

CS:Source is essentially the same a CS1.6 (without the riot shield).

I've always loved CS but was put off by the cheats & kids.

There is nothing new (other than the engine) in the game at all.

And (sadly) now the game is available over the shelves, all the CS Kiddies will be back on voicecomms - time to turn off voice. . . .

Got my copy today and have just installed it. Now problems. I think i'm glad i waited a day for their servers to cool off a bit.

First impressions are that it looks VERY nice. The new physics kept my entertained for well over an hour just throwing dustbins at the guards then running away as they chased me (chase me, chase me!!)

The only little niggle is that every so often I get a bit of stutter when something new loads....and the sound is a little 'dull'.....even on my THX Setup

I'm running it at 1280 x 1024 with everything turned up to max. It runs fine with no problems.

My setup is P4 2.6ghz, 1024MB, Geforce 6800GT, Aopen mobo.

Only one hour!

You are lucky

Finally got mine working and although I'm still fuming over this logging in nonsense it is a very nice game to look at

Last night I saw one of those sea anemonae (spelling?) things that live on ceilings eat a crow!

Heres a fun tactic. Feed the anemonaes an explosive barrel then set alight as they reel it in.

Why don't we have any of these barrels at work?.... could have hours of fun

Ordered it, hopefully will arrive tomorrow. Most important thing is I hope it's playable on my current machine, Athlon XP2600+, 500MB RAM and a Radeon 256MB 9600.

I will be upgrading my RAM to 1GB and the gfx card to the Radeon X800XT next month.

I tell you what this is a very creepy game.

Images of what I saw and did in "Ravenhome" or what ever its called will probably haunt me forever.

So much more atmosphere than Doom 3
