What shoot terrorists who are there trying to kill American troops? Would hope so, thats what theyre out there for. As has been said there was shooting coming from the building, quite possible these people had killed/injured American troops.

Im not for the war in Iraq, but I generally support the troops who are out there. I assume you are muslim gsm1? (not that Im saying theres anything wrong with that, so dont take offence, but would go towards explaining your viewpoints)

Did you see the video of American soldiers last year breaking people's doors down and handcuffing women and children in their own home while they searched it? US troops then took out the husbands tied them up and stuck sacks over their heads while lighting a cigarette and laughing - all this while their wives pleaded and their children were crying.
Then there was the incident where an American ducked his head down and started wildly shooting into a crowd of protestors. Again nothing was done and the American military claimed they were shot at - just like they always claim when they shoot up Brit or Candian troops or Journalists or Wedding parties.
And that doesn't even include all the torture, murder and rape that went on in Abu Ghraib yet.

That sounds like a pretty clear case of contravening the yellow card rules of engagement. Not only that, they were disobeying a direct order. Were these guys charged with murder?

Whilst I'm sure there were quite a few incidents such as this in NI, imagine how many there would have been if the US forces had been there instead of British troops.

You never did answer my question in the blackwatch thread Pete.

If you contravene the geneva convention you should be tried for war crimes, end of story, the court will then make a judgement on the evidence. It seems the US Military agree with this as they are investigating the incident and have suspended the soldier from active duty, their report/trial is what will matter in the end with regards to this soldiers fate.

Unfortunately Bush wont agree to being a member of the world court, unlike most of the civilised word, so he wont be liable to prosecution under war crimes laws in this court.

What should be considered here is the potential risk to the marines it is not uncommon to have a suicide bomber amongst the dead/wounded just waiting for a group of the enemy to check them out who would then detonate an IED.
This has happened over many years the japanese in WW2 and the viet cong in vietnam to name but two occasions,it is also worth bearing in mind the mind set that is installed as well especially after coming under fire or seeing comrades die.
I can assure you that given different circumstances you may be surprised how many people would "Shoot First" and ask questions afterwards even maybe some people here who take the moral high ground,regardless of the justification of the war these guys are fighting for there lives and unlike PS2 you do not always get the opportunity to have another go!!!

Ps I am an ex soldier although i did have an action man as well when i was younger.
