just some info for you-the downpipe cat is a lot more restricive than the center one, you will also gain more in power if you decat the downpipe and leave the cat in the center and it will still pass at mot time
#32
Ah ok, I thought the CAT in the downpipe was the essential one. I never realised I could get away with having a CAT in the centre pipe. Will cut the amount I spend massively, the downpipe hi flow CAT are much more expensive than the ones in the centre pipe.
Thanks for the info! I am going to have to save money to buy everyone a drink next year! Hmmm, let me think £3 per drink x 1000 online users hmmm, maybe I had better make that Year 2024!

Yeah, saw that earlier today. By the time the auction has finished it will probably be worth me just buying a new one. Will keep an eye out though and may bid on it depending on what the finishing price is.
Cheers anyway.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Do you know where in Basildon to go to check one out? I am based in Middlesex so Basildon is not too much of a problem.
Cheers.

There's pictures as well Not sure you would be able to hear one in action there though, well not at least until it's fitted to your Scoob

Cool, thanks for the link. Was thinking about popping down there this weekend but the missus has made other plans! Oh well, will have to sit on my hands another week. May give them a call though and find out a few more details.
Cheers all.

Sorry to be thick, showing my lack of knowledge again, but what is a CEL fix?

check engine light-CEL {i think so
If u de-cat your exhaust it messes up O2 sensor and u have to place a fix on it. If u dont, your check engine light will go on everytime u "beat on it".{has to do something with ECU restart} I know this just from forums {no personal experience, i have oem exhaust}.
It would be better to ask somebody who has done this allready.
Not much help i know but ...................just a noob

I have heard lots of reviews of all the products but still don't know which to get. Scoobysport exhaust is in the lead at the moment due to all their technical blurb confusing the hell out of me!
Forgot to say I have a classic MY99 scoob and if anyone can recommend Scoobynet discounted prices then I would appreciate it!
Cheers.

I have the Ninja system on a MY99, with a res centre, the tail is slash cut 4.5 inch and straight exit, there is no compromise on the way the system is built, fully polished and the welds are superb, Scoobyworld even supplied the gaskets and the bolts for the centre to back box. Makes more noise than the standard system, low burble from the boxer engine at low revs, to a great growl when you open it up.
When cruising on the motorway the noise is not intrusive inside the car, only took me 1 hour to fit all straightforward.
If you go to http://www.scoobyworld.co.uk/trolleyed/8/22/index.htm
They have some sound files to listen to.
Sorry can't do the clicky.
Hope this helps.

Thanks everyone. I never knew picking an exhaust would be such a variety orf choice and information. At least I am learning things and one day I may be able to pass this onto others! Got a quote form Hayward and Scott today so have to start saving my pennies!

Im going through the same thing at the moment and after popping over to a scooby meet Iv desided to get the New 4.5" Scoobysport back box (like the one scooby-k posted) and a non res centre section.
There is no chance of me finding one of the back boxes second hand so a new one will cost £250-£300 and a second hand non-res centre section will cost £50-£70.
Im going for this setup becasue I want something that has a large tail pipe but I cant stand the noise on the motorway. The road noise on the motorway will drain most of the exhaust note.
With this setup it should not have a problem with my next MOT.
Give dave at API Engines a call. www.apiengines.com 01926 614333. You will not have a problem with these guys.
go to http://www.scoobysport.co.uk/ then click on Main Dealers and they are first on the list of main dealers.
