Over the air filter!

I had one on my scoob from ETS. I dont think it made a vast difference but noticed alot of heat haze when in traffic coming out which must reduce under bonnet temps. It is a great cosmetic difference though!!

If it slows the car, why increase the STI8 scoop?

because the sti8 scoop forces air onto the TMIC where its needed and the side vents help draw heat away from the radiator?
you ever seen a sti8 with the side vents?????

the problem being that as it draws the heat away from the rad, it makes it flow over the air filter?

is this a bit to technical for the max power brigade?

quote from www.revolution.eu.com,
"by fitting an induction kit manufactured from high flow material, this will increase the speed and quality of the air in to the engine thus giving you more power and torque and a sport induction noise"
SO,if you can get MORE air to the filter OR anywhere around the filter then it can't be a bad thing can it
S/M,if you can say above about an sti8 scoop WHY and HOW can you not get your head around what i'm saying about the small bonnet scoop's ???

That may be the case from stand still to motion but after a few seconds the under bonnet heat would become greatly reduced. Also, if the notion of air passing through the rad and back out the side vent was to occur, this would surely defy physics? I dont see how it can pass through the front of the car and then force its way back throught the side vent while air is being dammed through it.
If you wanted to really nit pick over this topic, the same would happen with the ic scoop wouldnt it?

Ive already said it doesnt serve any real purpose it just looks alot better.

But hey, im classed as a max power kid so what do i know?

lol, i know where i'd like to put a free hat

if anyone agrees with Professor of Physics Sticky, then we can make a scoop totally blanked in underneath, so no air gets in or out!

we've just made two reverse facing scoops for the passenger side,

we made it working on the theory air flows over it and the hot air is dragged or pulled out! before anyone has a go, its not my theory it was on a custom car programme.

we are just trying to come up with new and different styles, you could have 10 subarus at an event, all with mini scoops on and they could all look different!

Our main aim is styling, we can't test the parts in a wind tunnel? to see exactly where the air goes, or even try running around with a plastic bag, lol, but we can offer different styles of mini scoops that, imo do aid air to the induction kit.

lol so you'd agree the new scoops will work for reducing under bonnet heat?

i do think the mini scoops work at aiding air flow to the induction kit , and reduce under bonnet heat,
you may not be totally wrong as i've said i can't do tests in wind tunnels?

we could maybe try a reverse facing scoop on the induction kit side to see if there is any more difference to the forward facing scoop?

this another quote off www.jap-innovations.co.uk
Cooling is another important factor as an engine needs a cool intake of air to produce more power (cold air is denser and so contains more oxygen particles in a given volume). If you fit an induction kit to your car, it can mean that more warm air from under the bonnet is drawn into the engine which will reduce power. If you can keep your engine supplied with a good flow of cold air it will produce more power. This can be achieved either by venting hot air out of the bonnet, or forcing cold air in.

MRT Bonnet Scoops
To supply that all-important cold air to your induction kit, this neat aluminium scoop comes in black with a textured finish, but can be painted if required to match your bonnet colour. Will suit only impreza's with the face lifted bonnet (MY97 - MY00
