As far as I know the UK car still has the scooby burble - there have been no changes to the engine or exhaust. Rest assured that with its equal length headers, my JDM car makes a lovely deep-chested growl that I'm personally finding more addictive than the noise from my old UK car with PPP.

took a 05 STi out the other day.
not that impressed, i was expecting better performance. far to smooth power delivery for my liking.
I found it a bit arsy round the roundabouts with the diff set on auto, whereas the WR1 would be planted.
As for BOG down, it dosent get worse than the 05 Sti, it needs some serious re mapping to get the low end power up.

If there was a category for tramlining in road tests this car would be 5 stars. the other negative is the amount of noise from the tyres, it is unbelievable. Its a good job Subaru provide you with such a high quality stereo to drown out the noise (NOT). Other niggles are petty, not all the switches are illuminated at night, there is no rheostat on the instruments, no headlamp wash. The paint that IM use in this country must be an emulsion I swear you can see through it in places,
The positives are;
The best quote I have heard about this model is " Overtaking for Idiots" It is but it is much more as well, the cornering ability is frankly unbelivable, turn in is razor sharp, find the apex, feed in some power and on to the next one. Its like indoor karting outside!
I don't know what to do about PPP I think in the new year we will see what Prodrive come up with and make a decision when I am better aquainted with things.

Excellent report I'm sure there is still the Legendary 'Bright' switch fitted LOL
Glad you like your first Scoob Normal Quotes from Scooby virgins are
A) I won't spend any more money on mods
B) The Car is plenty fast enough as it is
so PPP, PHP and PF7's
Get PPP first and don't worry about the Tyres, they won't last too long

I've got crystal silver one with PPP and am over the moon with it...I came from the darkside so that is saying something.. Very precise, no understeer, strangely NO tramlining with me...(luckyman have you had your geometry checked??)
Only complaint is that even with PPP I know there is more power than Im being allowed to use...

Are they bad or something!
Just want to know what they are like to previous versions from peoples own points of view.
S.B.- Trading in..... never!!!
Sam- Surely the PPP can't be that much of a pre-requisite can it, as they are 260bhp standard?!?!?
Andy- Not really as I want to known what the UK ones are like, as that is what I would (if I was ) look at getting.
Regards,
Shaun.

GOOD: looks (got a black one) high speed handling much stronger mid range compared to bugeye better planted round bends Overall refinement
This is my third new scooby in a row and each model gets more and more refined. You could drive the WRX with one finger, but I wouldn't recommend that in the STI (smaller steering wheel, bigger tyres more power etc.) so I suppose it is more of a drivers car, though it doesn't seem to give you the kick up the **** the classic scooby does.
If you are looking for a grin inducing involving drive, but also like an element of refinement, for the price you would struggle to beat the STI. If you go the main dealer servicing route it is expensive, but I think that is regardless of model, oh and tyres last about 9,000 miles.
I love the subaru experience (even without modding) and every time I change my car (every two to three years) they seem to come up with something better than anything else in the market place. I use the car every day and it is just as comfortable doing the school run as doing a loony run (where speed limits permit) and service intervals of 10,000 miles (about every 9 months for me) is affordable.
Just do it, you know you want to
