Unfortunately, the oldun's have not grown up with the internet and a lot of them do not know how to switch a pc on, let alone online banking etc, etc.

When we are older we will be able to do most of this online.

One day a week I have to go to another post office, mine is closed that afternoon. Some guy comes in, from gardenersworldonline with TWO grey sacks full of jiffy bags, some 70 to 100 packets. He does this DAILY! Poor postie has to weigh each one and put the stamps on them. Why has the idiot not got a franking machine!!!

Think yourself lucky you are not in the queue waiting behind this prize time waster....!

yep i have one of these customers but he comes in 2-3 times a week, but with 2 sack fulls all stuff sold on ebay. as for a franking machine, they are expencive to use and need do a certen amount of mail(quite a lot from what i've been told) before you can get one.

I would definately kick off in that situation, absolutely no doubt. I'd demand that he steps aside with his 100 parcels and lets me "play through" with my single parcel!

Tell them to get the Smart Stamp software from the RM web site.

£5 per month plus the cost of the postage you print. Sorted.

Just got this, as it happens.

It does, 1st, 2nd + recorded + special del. I think it also does Standard Parcel.
With rec del and special, u still have to queue in the post office, but all you are doing is getting your tickets stamped then off you go. I assume you can do insured parcel post as well.

You print direct to envelopes or labels, add logo etc, and as above £5pm rental + postage. Beats the cost of renting a franking machine at £30 pm for life.
Oh, or you can pay yearly for smartstamps, and save a tenner, £50 pa.

All those services which the Post Office provide makes sure that it remains a viable organisation and is also incredibly useful to those who use them. Especially in rural areas.

Seems a bit selfish to feel it should just be there for your own convenience and no one else's.

You're not going to do anything silly and go all "postal" on us are you?

Actually my mental stability is second to none. You will note I have valid reasons for the complaints I make on here. There are those, however, who harbour hatred against people for no reason other than they fact they play golf. One would have thought those would be the individuals most likely to go "postal" as you put it. I am touched you care enough to ask though!

With regard to "taking revenge out on the public", its just such a shame that certain sections of the public insist on giving me a such worthy motives to do so.

I'm usually the guy at the head of the queue struggling with parcels because despite the fact I've written the address on the parcel in big letters I now also have to fill in a little sticker that has just enough room for you to write half the address for each and every parcel, grrrrrrrr

I told the lady in the PO about this service today - she knew nothing about it but was also p*ssed off that it was only going to put people like her out of a job!

Ok so in a effort to avoid having to waste hours of my life in queues and stressful, overcrowded situations I completed most of my Xmas shopping on Amazon towards the end of last week! It felt good!

Anyway, today I decided to go to the barbers near my home this lunchtime for a haircut. When I got there it was closed in blatant contravention of their published opening times and no note to explain why. My mood darkened.

I then thought I may aswell pop home for lunch where I found a "We called while you were out" card from parcel farce. Ah ha! My Amazon order!!! I'll pop round to the depot to collect it!

I read on.....

"You can collect your parcel after noon at: Local Post Office, Hight St. Portishead"

NNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

My mood turned black.

So I duly turn up at the post office at 12:24 to see a queue of 30 poeple (75% elderly) stretching the length of the shop!!!!

AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!

Decided to abort mission there and then! May try again later, or I might even write the whole consignment off as any benefit gained by buying online will have been lost.

Absolutely intolerable!!!

There are no guns in it?

Or is it that someone is trying to take a photo of an abnormal queue which you think is not abnormal?

It wasn't an invitation to analyse the suitability of the photo I chose, it was a parody of a scene from your cited film, Falling Down, where he compares his withered burger to the juicy, plump burger pictured on the wall.

Honestly, I've seen more sensitiviy to humour from an SS Oberstgruppenfuhrer!

(incidentally, the photo is not at all far from what I was faced with!!)
