I would suggest the following
1.. Recruitment of new mods, as IMHO SN is way down on numbers
2.. Clarification of policy(for mods and users) on :
a. Commercial Advertising, what Auth Ad's can and can't post.
b. Moderator standards of behavoir
c. Actions for dealing with trolls
d. Outlines of why things are as they are. E.g Webmaster publicly berating mods.
3. Moderator team morale
4.. Roles and Responsibilities
5.. How to handle double standards accusations(esp when given percieved examples)
6.. Moderator commitment and work rate.
7.. Forum Applicability(do we need NSR for example)
8.. Clarification of the relationship(or not) between SS2 and SN.
9.. InterBBS projects, E.g SIDC trackdays etc etc
10. Addressing SN perception issues(e.g too muppety, cliques, politics, conspiracies etc).

I'm sure i'll think of some more..

Easy.....

Get rid of grey areas, establish clearer/stricter guidelines, and come down like a ton of bricks on offenders.

Judging from not only members, but also mods, some guidelines are too ambiguous, which results in people taking the pee and in inconsistent moderating. Nothing new in that (I was as guilty as anyone), but although they seem to be doing a decent job, the new ones do seem to struggle at times in that regard.

Just IMHO of course.

As it has been asked and I am not in the mood to be sycophant, I believe the Admin and Moderating team need to look at the following points:

- What has caused the reason for the recent moderator resignations/removals?
- What can be done to correct this?
- Guidelines around the use of thread/comment editing/removal.
- Guidelines around RTM (if it actually working)
- Examining ANY conflicts of interests that Admins/Moderators have either professionally or personally
- Rectifying these conflicts of interest.
- The moderating standards have slipped in recent times on Scoobynet with a lack of guidelines, standards and in some cases principles.
- Less knee-jerking and drumhead trials of the community.
- Examining user accounts and removing those that haven't posted in the last year.

I believe if this slide continues then Scoobynet's growth will slow and eventually die away for the Scooby enthusiast and remain open only for those wanting to talk about personal issues, crashes, how cool it was they overtook a car or is their friend cross-dressing normal.

Of course this is all of the top of my head, if I thought about I could probably come up with more.

Now back to reality (or my slightly cynical version of it), I expect this post to be ignored as I haven't praised the teams for doing a good job.

No it was just a comment, there have been more than one thread in the time I have been on Scoobynet about cross dressing and it meaning for friendships.

It was not intended to point a figure at you.

A reply to an RTM as SOP would be nice.............the reporter would then a least know their complaint had been read and action deemed not necessary/action taken.

At the same time, could you devote some time to a definitive plan for the ScoobyCD.
Please don't trot out the usual "you can have your money back" line. It is about keeping promises you made, not the money.

I may have missed the outcome, but what has happened re the Sideways Record charity pledges ? Apologies if this has been sorted and I missed it.

Shame about the anger and negativity of the vocal minority again.

They will continue to be convinced that we only want to hear good things, and are adamant they know everything and how it should be.

Please everyone else, don't be put off by them. We are in this for the same reason as you.. to enjoy the great experiences and have a laugh as a community of fellow enthusiasts.

Please continue to add input and we will prune the dross as we go along, and I ask you to simply ignore them for the few minutes they stay in the thread.

I have come to realise only recently, that we spend too much time dealing with these morons and don't fully appreciate that you all see them for what they are. The fact they are so vocal (on the internet at least) blinds us at times..

So please show your support to the team here who really wants what you want.

It doesn't have to be full on 100% positive.. but as requested, it would be great if it were constructive and non-sarcastic.

Plus, if you've just got something positive to say as a few have so far, please post that too. It is nice when we see the true balance of things.

So far we've had about 4 people posting complete rubbish, and the rest has been fabulous.. the reason it looks worse is that the people who post rubbish often post many times.

All the best, and thank you for what you've said so far, it's really lifted the spirits of the us and the team

Hi DocJock

Re RTM's agreeed.. we've already agreed to discuss a way of making sure we respond quicker.

ScoobyCD, agreed.. and I only spoke to someone about that yesterday.

Charity pledges were sorted a long time ago in a method agreed by the community.

Cheers

Simon

We are (those of us who can attend) all giving up our time to make sure that we can get together and sit down and discuss things.

You know what,i cant think of anything thats wrong.

It should be a very short meeting.

One thing though, dont make any drastic changes to the format/userbility of the site. Its very easy on the eye, lets keep it that way.

Unfortunately Simon, this type of post does absolutely nothing for sorting anything out. I haven't a clue what's gone on lately concerning the moderator demise, but you come across to me as one angry individual.

If you're running the show, you're going to need to lead by example.

Thanks guys

Can we please keep everything on-topic and constructive.

Spoon. Not angry at all, apologies if it came across that way.

Please though, if there is anything else you want to discuss let's do it by pm or in a different thread, to keep this one on-topic.

Regards

I don't have anything negative to add as I think the site is a great community - and if I don't like something I don't read it.

Although, join dates would be nice

Simon,
One will assume I'm classed as the vocal minority. In which case, it seems that you don't want to hear anything "we" have to say, as it's not positive. Isn't that a bit silly? I would have thought you would want to hear both positive and negative comments. The negative so you can do something about it.

Oh, and your comment about "dealing with these morons".

Care to rephrase that? Sounds like you're calling certain members of SN morons. tsk tsk, isn't that something a moderator/webmaster should not do to his users?

No doubt my comment will be deleted, as it's not constructive to the thread.

Markus,

Just to re-iterate what Simon has explained.......If you have any comments, positive or negative, they are welcomed as long as they are constructive of course.

Regards,
Shaun.

Simon, you have no need to apologise to me. I can appreciate the task.

Fair enough Shaun:

1) Remove the shackles from the hands of the existing mods. Let them act on thier own discretion when it comes to vaping/editing a thread. My opinion is that if you are a mod, then you have common sense and are 'trusted' to do the job, why the need for discussion about why this thread should stay or go. simple

2) Allow all mods to ban trolls, without prior warning to said troll. Again, no need to discuss or agree why. Sod having a debate, just ban them. Simple.

3) As Neil suggested, have a look at the forums and see if they are all actually needed. Is NSR needed? is Muppets needed? Is Other Marques needed? These are just examples, other forums could be included too, maybe run through them all and decide if changes are needed to them?

4) Scotland *EVENTS* forum. Does need discussion, issue is still unresolved as far as I'm aware, dispite the migration to SIDC forums. Personal feeling is that it should be treated like any other event forum, NO special conditions at all. For example, if you look at the southern forum you'll see it's overrun by those essex boys (I am not having a dig, I don't mind it ). My point being, if they are that active, why not an essex events forum? You can't as it would set a dangerous precedent, as would allowing non event posts, eg; for sale posts in an events forum.

Definitely ban trolls. I think you will find NSR and Muppets are needed judging by the number of posts and threads.
