That's all my questions answered then.

Can you organise a slush fund to cater for any *potential* mishaps I may have on any forthcoming Muppet Meets, and the name of a good plumber would be handy!!
Keep up the good w**k

Nothing much substantial to add, so I'll just make a couple of points and slope off quietly...
1: As others have said above, keep up the good work mods... I think you do a great job given you'll often be faced with damned if you do / damned if you don't choices.
2: Again, echoing comments above, I think some sort of "trash" forum might be a good idea for stuff that doesn't belong in SN General or NSR, but really doesn't warrant feeding to the to Muppets.
3: Also as above, it might be nice to see a brief explanation in place of a thread that needs to be removed, so we do't get the "why was xxxxxx thread vaped?".
4: How about setting a page up which shows some stats regarding SN, eg:
* Daily / weekly / monthly bandwidth useage.
* Number of posts in the last 24 hours
* breakdown of posts by the time of day
* Top posters
I realise that some of this might be wasting processor time and badwidth just for the sake of it, but some of us would love a peek into the inner workings of SN (like *just* how much data is being shifted about) - nosiness i guess. I'm also sure that some of this kid of info might make some of the users (the occasional post saying how easy it is to run a messageboard) who like a grumble about SN realise just what's involved.
John.

I came on here because I drive a scooby. As well as a great resource of info its a great place to come for meetings and other events.
I have gravitated to muppets because its a laugh, a bit of banter and tom foolery.
I have no complaints. As far as mods are concerned the ones I have dealt with (tiggers and SammyH) have been very helpfull, things like shifting posts when we have gone way off topic and it turns into an event thread before any of us notice LOL and the odd RTM when theres been an 'accidental' picture posted.
I think its fantastic. Keep up the good work!

Don't think theres much to really complain about, it seems the mods do a good job. Sometimes the PC'ness of the site seems a bit harsh but then maybe thats a sign of the country we live in and not just SN
Keep up the good work

excellent forum, used correctly its one hell of a hard drive for information.
For me, it gives great confidence in knowing there are people outhere who are willing to help, no matter what.
Yes you get the odd wide boy's, but hey this is just an opportunity to brush up on your key board skill's & your reaction time to reply/contribute.

All seems ok, adverts on threads are becoming more common and perhaps need a bitmore attention, PP is on the case a lot atm though..
Must say your post to thrustscc is a bit hypocritical though, any non related posts will be deleted except the bosses

Rob,
Unauthorised ads do get pounced on when they get spotted, but if you see them first, do please use the '!' (report bad post) button to let us know - it's a big help.
Thanks, Andy.

I think SN is a great place and is made up of a wide selection of people all bringing their knowledge and experence to help and entertain others. The Mod's have a thankless task for which i think they dont get enough support from the users. you frequently see posts abusing the Mod's for making tough choices where which ever way they went would result in attacks from other people on the BBS.
The only area of improvment is like ThrustSCC i am interested in other peoples experences of Dealers and suppliers and to find threads frequently removed just because the person is describing a bad experence with a dealer does indicate a lack of freedom of speech and i feel that if a thread is removed due to pressure from a dealer etc then this FACT should be posted so that people can form their own opinon, this is suppose to be a forum for Subaru owners and part of the benefit is passing on personal experences of the ownership of these cars.

Fair comment. Noted, and thank you.
Adrian
Thank you
Please be very clear on this. There is absolutely no problem with posting about a bad experience with a dealer, as long as it is done so in a legal manner. This means, unfortunately that sometimes we almost need to seek legal advice before posting.. but that's the law of the land, and that's a fact of life.
So.. just to make it clear.. threads will NEVER be deleted just because someone posts about a bad experience with a dealer.
Maybe what we can take from your post is that we need to find a better way to convey the dos and don't of posting about these experiences.

Thanks again everyone
Cheers

Only been on a couple of months. Problem is SN is too addictive! Seriously site design is good and easy to read and use. Love the fact I can talk Scoob stuff but whole lot else too.

A commercial showcase thread, for the "authorised advertisers" to display specials etc As seen on www.gtr.co.uk
The "For Sale Section" needs adjustment either all sections need to be free i.e. General, Cars For Sale & Parts & Accessories or all sections you have to pay for. Some people pay and put the correct items in the correct threads, others dont and wack all there ads into General, which includes Cars & Parts etc which beats the system in effect.
Cheers

One thread that springs to mind was by 6 Pot describing the way a dealer was responding to problems he was having with a legacy he had bought on which he felt the paint finish was sub standard.
The other point which keeps appearing is how addictive SN is i second that as i know that frequently if you want information you only have to post on here and some body will post a link to a suitable site very shortly as i said a wonderful place where people want to help!

I would like to say a couple of things
I know I’m guilty of annoying a few mods on here, but without the mods and webby their would be no scoobynet keep up the good work that all the mods have done in her in the past and future to come
What about joint scoobynet membership for couples??
As for the stickers how come I can get them made in a week or two if I was given permission, but it has taken ages to get them if at all ?
Make it so people cannot hide behind hidden alias to abuse people like no way of hiding email addresses I know this could be got round with the likes of hotmail and all that but it's a start.
What about having a 3 strikes and you out (for Good) policy " I better be good then "
Paul
Ps. stop picking on the muppets

I've been visiting the various versions of Scoobynet for five years now, and this one is by far the best, with (almost) all the features you could want. I guess I'm not radical enough to trouble the mods, and I'm tolerant enough not to use the RTM too often (mainly when traders pose as private sellers).
However, one feature I would like to see is a control over which posts I can see. I would like to be able to turn off the posts of the trolls, perhaps seeing that they have posted, but not seeing the actual words. That way my old-fashioned sensibilities would be offended less often. So that's it - a reverse buddies list I suppose.
Otherwise it's great - the only site I visit every day I can access a computer

Apologies for the lack of interaction from myself.
Can I say "Thank you" to all the constructive comments that have been made.
It really is a good exercise to have a reality check every now and then and some really good suggestions and points have been made!
Regards,
Shaun.

I think that the ability to freely report bad service or poor competance by dealers or suppliers is potentially very valuable to all Subaru owners. At the moment it seems like the mods have difficult decisions to make about whther posts made about dealers or other suppliers may or may not lay Scoobbynet open to some legal action. Therefore the decision usually is made on the side of caution and the thread locked or vaped. So how can we share these experiences (good and bad) without running the risk of legal action? Some ideas maybe:-
1. A rating system of individual dealers, like a Poll etc. People can rate out of 10 what their impressions were, level of service, technical competance, friendliness etc. This is essentially what people do when they complete the JD Power surveys. You could also have average and moving average results posted to show where dealers have improved their levels of service (perhaps in response to bad ratings by customers).
Such rating systems are compromised by one fundamental weakness, those who post are not necessarily representative of the vast majority. The JD Power survey is a classic example, it's usually those who are very happy or very unhappy who tend to respond. However to compensate for this the dealers/suppliers concerned could be encouraged to give their customers the details of the Scoobynet website so that a better cross-section of their customers could be encouraged to give feedback. Also an average of all Subaru owners could be made and feedback compared to the average could be displayed.
2. Rather than simple vapourise threads, maybe the mods could "suspend" a thread, or a post and made invisible to other users. The user concerned could then be pointed in the direction of the relevant Scoobynet policy or other guidance notes and it suggested that if they want the thread to stay then they may need to reconsider some of the points or language contained.
In that way people have the option to reconsider their posts so maintaining freedom of speech within agreed bounds and avoiding the knee-jerk "censorship"/"politically correct"/"Nanny Scoobnet" type posts and criticisms.
