Well, I'm another that has gone from scoob to M3 and I don't regret it one bit

Had an MY00 PPP then a P1. The P1 was tweaked and Tek3'd and was making circa 320bhp 310Tq. I loved it but.....it was starting to show it's age. It also suffered from a slight image problem although TBH I couldn't care too much about that

The M3 is another world though. Smooth, comfortable and quiet (ish)! No probs with it being RWD and the 19s are fine for daily road driving. You'll be hard pushed to find many that far below £30k but be aware there is a new model coupe out soon which will drive used values down. The cab isn't due for replacement until late 06 I believe.

I did enjoy scoob ownership but don't think i'll be going back just yet.
Do it

Build quality still leaves a lot to be desired and is still nowhere near as good as German (new Mercs are now as well built as your average french crap with four wheels). I have yet to see a Jap car with a nice interior.

But if you want the biggest bang for your buck, it has to be Jap every time.
strange...
my "awful" looking 12 year old r32 GTR has no squeeks or rattles like the 1 year old e46 m3 i had, nor has it broken down on me like the e46 m3 i had. it is imho better built, infinately more tunable, and ultimately more satisfying to own and drive...for a fraction of the price.
and despite it being "awful" looking, you'd be suprised how many people stop and stare, take photos of it on their mobiles, or say wow.. a skyline. no, not in disbelief in how "awful" it is, just out of sheer respect for the car and its abilities.
if you REALLY want an awful looking car, just buy any recent bmw bangle creation or a recent scooby

Yes I would be surprised if anyone wanted to take a picture of a R32, it's a butt plug! Tunable yes, attractive looking car, no.
Whilst most of the new BMW range looks cr4p, the M3 is FAR better looking than a R32.
I don't REALLY want an awful looking car, I'm happy with my 996

At 28 I'm enjoying my mid life crisis enormously! Yes I drive a Porsche , and yes my girfriend is a model , anyone else out there fancy a mid life crisis?

As Austin Powers might say; "it's good to be me! Yeah baby!"

As an alternative there is a M3 CSL (04 plate) for sale on pistonheads for £40K with only 2000 miles on the clock. That car would have cost £58K whatta bargain..and sounds like nothing on earth

Get an older M5 - fekin awsome - It can be a comfortable limo, drop a couple of cogs, plant it and suddenly you are on the starship enterprise
