Signatures/Avatars Yey or Ney?

NO to sigs, NO to avatars, NO to text message posts on forums, and NO to post whoring replies such as !!
If people want to pay to have bandwidth increasing gimmicks, then by all means let them. However, I don't ever think it's going to be a benefit when the cost is relayed to the advertisers who have to spend a lot of money to get a minimal return from it.
I love the funny graphics, smilies and the rest of it, but they should be kept on the smaller muppet boards.

We use signatures and Avatars over at www.clubcalibra.net and they DO work. However, you DO need some limits:
Avatar:- 110x110 pixels and max 6Kbin size. (if you want to see what you can do with this, go take a look)
Signatures:- NO pictures at all. None, Nada. Zip. They tend to consist of links to personal sites, car specs, reminders of events...

I hate sigs/avatars because they make the screen much more obvious and less work friendly...all the flashing and colours just too likely to catch the bosses eye too often.

What he said.
Why has this thread been started though - nobody has mentioned the serious possibility of introducing them, have they?? Hopefully, Simon's previous stand that they won't be added still stands, and won't be swayed by one impromptu thread with input from 100 out of 40,000 members, even though the numbers support a continued veto...

This question is a no brainer though, the software being used already has functionality to add both sigs and avatars and let people choose whether they see either. 100% of the people can therefore be satisfied.
Add them and let's at least catch up with 99% of the rest of the boards on the net!
