Useless New Year's Eve trivia ahead 
The trouble is if Pete did choose Betamax over VHS he at least chose well from a technical standpoint. VHS is/was utterly inferior to Betamax and Philips V2000 was better than both of them. Unfortunately those braindead morons called marketing people took over and we ended up with the worst format possible as the de facto standard for domestic video - thank God it's finally dying now.
Now if Pete would just show the same intelligence when buying a camera ..... he'd have a Nikon
