03 WRX PPP. Never get anywhere near 25mpg in 22k miles. Commuting (South London 18 miles each day, no mway = 20-22mpg), mway = 23-25mpg, track = 7-8mpg.

PPP made no difference to my MPG. Fitted at 4k.

not worked ours out yet.

whats the size of an MY04 STi fuel tank ?

drove to Brum over Xmas to see the outlaws. from a totally full tank to one which was damn close to empty we got 260 miles out of it. not very scientific but will give me an idea !

who could do the 'economy' switchable map then?
I think you hit the nail on the head re the driving style, this will make a huge difference. Try to minimise high rpm use, drive sensibly ie look well ahead and allow the car to slow naturally rather than flying up behind someone then braking hard. If you think that every time you hit the brakes you are using fuel (you don't but just think of it as such ) then that will make a far bigger difference than a switchable map.

Depends on how empty is empty. At worst its about 22mpg (light on) at best 24mpg.

On mine for motorway running 2.5K revs sees around 28mpg (but only doing about 60-65mph), 3K revs sees around 25mpg (70 - 75mph). I suspect you will coming back at around 80 to 90 on the clock which would give low 20s. Fun time sees it drop sub 20. The tank is 60 is 60 litres

i.e. :

1) fill to brim

4) fill to brim
5) reset trip and note distance
6) take number of litres divide by 4.54 to give gallons
7) divide number of gallons into distance travelled to give mpg
Miles divide Litres divide 0.21998 Just an alternative.

I guess that this shows a difference with Turbo cars - my 240bhp 3.0 Alfa 164 gave better mpg at 85-95mph (27mpg was the best I saw) than it did at 75-85 (22-23 normally) It was the Cloverleaf and therefore quite "cammy" and the engine just seemed happier at the higher speeds.

I did read somewhere a long time ago that the best "specific" fuel comsumption (whatever that means) was to be had by crusing at peak torque in top gear (obviously). This seemed to work quite well on my Alfas - but in the scoob that would be about 100mph (assuming 4K rpm) which would not work very well I fear!!

cheers

nope the light had not come on but must have been close ! the first 60 or so miles had been local driving on xmas eve delivering pressies. then a quick teip upto dartmoor with the major bit obviously being the drive on the m5 to brum. average was prob 70 cos the traffic driving north on monday morning was terrible.

when the current drive back tank is empty i'll work it out again.
