Try the new DC5, if you have drive it again and again, it is better in every area, I love the DC2 and EK9, in some ways prefer the nature of the 2 comnpared to the EP3 and DC5, but Honda have chissled away at all the qualities from the perfect pedal position, instrument cluster to the chassis and improved all of them.
The the DC2 has a few niggley faults, I found that when steering having the wheel at 45 degrees the wheel is weightless, rather unerving at speed, the gearbox has issues with the syncros, and the brakes are not up to track work other wise awesome.
My only criticism of the DC5 is the large steering wheel (same with DC2), and slightly too harsh ride, other than that it is awesome.

Hi Phil,
I've had an 02 Accord Type-R for about six months now and am very happy with it.
It's not the same as a scoob BUT it costs a darn sight less to run. Got it serviced at a Honda dealer today ..... £160.00 never had a Scoob dealer service lower than £250.00
Great everyday car and you still get a grin when you visit V-TEC land

I was commenting on the looks of the DC5 only. the DC2 was a much better looking car.
I have never driven the DC5 so cant comment on its performance or handling chracteristics. I have driven the DC2 which is very quick, but for me, I personally prefer the torquey 2.2 lump in the prelude.
What matters is that you like your DC5. Its not my cup of tea.

The DC5 is one sexy looking car and turns many more heads than the DC2 ever did, but looks is a personal thing, I loved my DC2 and love my DC5 for all things VTEC.

I drove the DC5 a few weeks ago and I think it's a fantastic car. It has by far the smoothest, most rev-happy engine I've ever driven, and even out of the VTEC zone it pulls strongly in any gear. Hit 6500 revs and the noise becomes instantly more aggressive and it pulls all the way to the red line as strongly as any turbo. Deeply impressive stuff.
Furthermore, traction for a FWD car is exceptional, not at all the wheel-spinning nightmare I was expecting. The trick front diff works wonders, though steering under acceleration does cause it to tug alarmingly at the wheel - the only handling deficiency I was able to identify. In a straight line it's utterly stable and it grips like a leech in the bends. Steering weight is on the heavy side with strong self-centring action, it needs a fair old shove to get it to corner. The payoff is plenty of feedback and superb stability on motorways.
Seats are supportive if a bit tight (and I'm anything but fat!). The 6 speed gearbox is a delight to use, it feels as if it's about 1/3 the size and weight of a 'normal' box. The ratios click home with effortless precision - another remarkable piece of technology and the one thing I really wished I could take away to put in my STI.
I wouldn't swap my scooby for one, but my fantasy garage definitely contains one.

It's a realy joy to drive these cars, ok. so there not as quick in a straight line as the Sti's or EVO's but I can make it across country as quick in one of these as I could in my EVO, there really is not that much in them.
The enjoyment of driving the DC5 (and 2) compared to my old Sti and EVO is much greater as you have to work the car a bit more and learn how to balance on the throttle and steering a bit more, in the EVO, I just just to floor it and it did it all for me, no fun at the end of the day.

Official Honda UK figures are 0 - 60 in 6.2 for the DC2.
The figure you quote is the 100kph time.

That was the first time I had tracked the DC5 and it was pissing with rain, so perhaps I was holding back a bit - especially on the braking front. Still we seemed doing better than the elises and caterhams in those conditions.
Is your DC2 standard? The DC5 is bog standard.

I think on paper it looks an amazing spec for the price, and they have addressed the interior which wasn't great on the DC2. I owned a DC2 for a while and found it to be very hard work coming from an STi4.
I found it a bit embarrasing to drive fast on public roads, as you really have to drive it like a loony. The scoob is effortless to drive quickly.
I think I could have lived with it if it was more comfy inside and a bit more soundproofing, but thats not the idea of it. Its like owning a touring car!
Would love to try a DC5 though....

I am a hoooj fan of DC2, I'd still own one now amoung alot of other cars, but I don't think we should under estimate the DC5, also a very strong car. I only rule it out on price.
As for the DC2 and DC5 debate, when people say the DC2 is more focused, that is not to say that the DC5 is not focused at all. And it's motoring journo's that tend to say that, living with a car is different. It's just that like most hot hatches / track day cars, the market still demands it has some bells and whistles, most people want a fast lightweight car, but they still want the mod cons. The DC5 is lovely inside, it's well made, comfortable, has six gears so can be driven on motorwards without driving you mad screaming in 5th gear. It's still a lightweight, high powered car, with a very good front wheel drive chassis. Like the DC2 it's not suppose to suffer from understeer on the track and it has more power from the 2.0L power plant than the DC2 1.8. I have spoken to a few people on the DC5 forum who went from a DC2 to a DC5 and disagree with this debate. I.E, you loose a few things from the DC2, but you also gain things and weighing all that up they were happy they made the change.
If it's in your budget I'd go for it, if I was going for a FWD Hatch in that price range, I'd rather have that than a CTR, Cupra R etc.

I seem to be in a bit of a fix over numbers myself, 1 match in 2 lines for the last god knows how long.... The way I see it is soon it will be mine, all mine!! Muahahahaha!!!
