dana have now got most of the potential value priced in after the rise within the last month - the one to watch now is Soco Intl (SIA.L), there should be an announcement very soon (maybe this week) on their Vietnam exploration. Some people have valued their declared reserves at £20/share (current price £13), so if you believe that there is plenty of value in them.

I cant afford expensive shares

Penny ones are the way forward!

Bp is at a low however, and might be worth a longer term gamble. The company is suffering at the moment, but with the amount of reserves in place they will do well. The safety / envoronmental response to the recent incidents will be trypically large!

This is a classic fallacy. Its immaterial how much the share is, its the % increase you are looking for. If a company decides to do a share split 5 for 1 on a £10 share, does it mean that its now good value at £2. Of course not! You should ignore the absolute price because all it measures is the ratio of value to the number of issued shares, which unless there are liquidity issues are meaningless

The spread on penny shares is usually quite large, so the share has to increase a large % before you even break even.
