Great site! Just found out about a house we bid on in 2002 which was offers over £255k (Edinburgh) we bid £350k - it went for £431k and needed easily £60k of work.

oh dear, the British and their 'feel good' house prices.
Yeah I fail to see the obsession with house prices, everyone loves to gloat about how much their place is worth, but high prices benefit few people - you sell and you pay more for a nicer house, you pay more fees and you pay more stamp duty. Only real winner is the government who are making a KILLING on stamp duty and council tax as the tresholds have never risen dispite house prices having rocked.

The next crash may already be upon us judging by price falls in the last few months. History confirms booms have ALWAYS ended in bust, and this has been one hell of a boom....
